recommendations for ONE new artist

well, im into a few people, but i feel like theres one empty spot...so can someone help me pick a singer to try? here's my criteria

1.NO SEX SONGS
2.Someone who has at least 2 enka-ish songs
3.Someone unique that i can talk about to lots of people
4.Someone who has a very powerful ballad (somewhat similar to Chihiro Onitsuka's Infection, or Ayu's Pride)

lol yea i know, my criteria limits to like, 2 singers ( ), but i would really appreciate it if someone could help.

I couldn't find someone who fits the whole criteria list so I had to choose one for each category. Hope this helps! ^-^"

1. I dunno anybody who sings enka songs but I know that Shimatani Hitomi used to be an enka singer so that might be something you might want to look into. She's more pop now though so I dunno if that's your cup of tea.

2. Unique? When it comes to rock, it'll have to be OLIVIA. Someone who just released her new pop single is Yifei (she's on Sony), who happens to be a model and a very famous actress in China. I heard clips of her single and saw a clip of her new PV and it really isn't that bad. Her style is similar to Ai Otsuka from what I'm hearing.

3. Yuna Ito definitely has a voice very fit for strong ballads (Endless Story, Precious, and Faith) so that'd be my first recommendation. If you want something from a group, Every Little Thing also has many great ballads that top my list. Theirs are classic. ^-^

Shiina Ringo.
She sings enka, Jazz, Rockz....and few rock-ish ballads (more like a slow rock).

looks like someone needs to define enka...but, here's my suggestions:

mika nakashima: loaded w/ ballads, like yuki no hana and oborozukiyo~inori. i dun think she does any sex songs, and her voice is nice.

YUI: new artist, very good. i like her songs, and her songs are like, upbeat ballads. some are rock as well, just in case you get tired of the ballads.

koda kumi: has good ballads, like you. unfortunately, she does have some sex songs...but it's japanese, you won't understand it but give her a chance and don't mind those pvs of hers....
......yea...

mink: LOVELY voice. she is awesome. she does alot of covers, but sooner or later, she'll prolly write her own music. give her a try. i know you'll like her

and R-L would prolly suggest nanse aikawa...i dun see anyhting special in her, but try her...just to make R-L happy...

otehr artists:
High and Highty COLOR: no ballads, but nice, rocking songs...literally
utada hikaru: alot of good ballads, like Final Distance...and a few others...

there's my suggestions. try them all out and see hwo you like

Have you even listen to Nanase-san? I found her music is quite interesting. I would categorize her music as classic rock.

As for Mika, she actually have one, Love Addict from LOVE album & its single.

I think you can try Hitomi Shimatani if you were looking for enka. She had some enka songs at her debut? You could try those out.

I'm very much restricted by your request for enka, hence I can't really recommend any artiste. But if you really want diversity, try Mika Nakashima and Shiina Ringo.

What is enka? Like, traditional japanese melody?

If so, you should try Ai Otsuka.

While were at it, hitomi is awesome.

Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen, defenitely. My second choice would be Bonnie Pink. She has some enka flavored songs.

well, thanks. since Mika Nakashima's music bores me, and im tired of Kumi. (overdose) so i guess i'll try Shiina Ringo, and listen to more of Nanase Aikawa. i might try Yuna Ito, as long as she doesnt end up like Mika Nakashima.

Hitomi Shimatani is a really nice artist! I'm sure you'll love her.

I don't regret one bit buying her "Tsuioku+LOVE LETTER" album. I only heard one of her songs off the album before buying it, and she has, upbeat songs, ballads.. And she has a very powerful voice (IMO)

I can upload the album I have for you if you want

^ I love Kokia's voice and that song called "Power Of SMILE".

But I recommend the god of all gods, Mika Nakashima. I don't think she does enka, but she fits all your other criteria. Plus she's very decent and more artistic when it comes to her PVs. Her music is so good.

@ Sora: I LOVE THAT SONG!!!

I will echo what Sakuragirl suggested. If you want someone unique in rock, try OLIVIA, she's awesome!
