The Depeche Mode Thread

Does anyone else here like them? They're one of my absolute favorite bands, and I think most everything they've done is golden.

For those that aren't very familiar with them, they are a groundbreaking electronic-rock band that got their start in the New Wave movement back in the '80s. They are most famous for the hits "Enjoy the Silence," "People Are People," "Policy of Truth," "Personal Jesus," "Everything Counts," and (of course) "Just Can't Get Enough." Their most recent album was 2005's "Playing the Angel," which spawned the minor hit "Precious." They are currently working on another album to be released in the near future.

DISCOGRAPHY (ALBUMS)
Speak & Spell (1981)
A Broken Frame (1982)*
Construction Time Again (1983)
Some Great Reward (1984)
Black Celebration (1986)*
Music For the Masses (1987)*
Depeche Mode 101 [Live Album] (1989)*
Violator (1990)*
Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993)
Ultra (1997)*
Exciter (2001)
Playing the Angel (2005)

*My personal favorites

I used to listen to them a lot back in the 80's and 90's. The first concert I ever went to was Depeche Mode in Sacramento, CA in 1988. I have every CD from 1981-1993. I wasn't too crazy about the stuff they did after that. Their live show is awesome.

I used to be a very big fan of them but I stopped listening to them. One of my favorite songs from them was Personal Jesus. I have since stopped but I do listen to old stuff here and there.

Wow, you went to the tour they filmed for "101" and the infamous documentary! I would love to go back in time and see that in person, since I think that was their absolute best era for live shows. It's also sort of special for me because that tour took place during the time I was born (June 14, 1988).

I know Enjoy the Silence cause Matthew Good Band covered it... and I know others less well because the girl that used to live above us always played Depeche Mode really loudly as I tried to sleep. I was not enjoying that silence har har!
