Ayumi's Singles: CD or CD/DVD Combo Pack?
Hello. For those of you who buy her singles, do you usually buy her single disc or CD/DVD combos? I'm usually the type of person who strictly buys the CD/DVD combos whether it's the single or full length album but I was reading someone's post in another thread about how all of the items on her single DVDs end up on her full length album. So is this always the case or are there videos on the singles that don't always make it to the full album?

I don't know every single DVD that she has released with a single, but I know there is an exclusive video on the fairyland CD+DVD single that is a "making of" but is like a slide show, and plays a kind of acoustic instrumental of "fairyland" in the background.
Also should this be in the Enquiries forum? |

the chat room is fine for this, I think. Actually a poll would have been cool too.
as for me, I'm a collector and buy all versions. But I wouldn't mind if they only came in CD versions (preferably with lots of remixes like the old school days). the PVs are always going to be released on an album or compilation. I don't really see the point. edit: RAINBOW, Real me, Daybreak, and Free & Easy are only available on the complete clip box, no album dvd. Last edited by Pieces_of_SEVEN; 24th May 2010 at 06:27 PM. |

well considering she didn't start releasing cd/dvd version of her albums/singles till MA, I wouldn't be surprised if some of her vids were only found on complete clips.
Off the top of my mind, with the exception of a few videos (my name's WOMEN, and Mirrorcle World) every video ends up on the album dvd (except anything before MA) When I buy cds. I buy what I like. If I don't like the pv for a certain song, then when I buy the single, I'm only going to buy the cd only version. Same with albums. I don't feel the need to buy every version, or only certain versions.

Since Memorial address, I think the only 2 PVs which haven't been on an album have been My name's WOMEN and Mirrorcle World (like has already been said). I'm not sure if there is anything else but I'm only really interested in the PVs, the making ofs are just a bonus for me.
Most of the singles I own are CD only with the exception of Moments, STEP you and Mirrorcle World. My reason for this is that the PVs end up on the album and I can wait for them. Plus it's cheaper

I always buy CD/DVD, since I feel it's the "complete" single.
It's just a mental thing. And sometimes I buy the CD-only version too, if I have money. |

The DVDs are awesome but I don't exclusively buy them.

I usually buy CD only versions.
There are more remixes and I don't see the point to buy a DVD when all of her PVs will been on her next album.

Even though most of the footage on the CD+DVD versions of singles usually ends up on the album (in Ayu's case at least) I tend to prefer buying CD+DVD versions of anything. Though this is the first time I'm buying an Ayu single actually; msotly because in the past I was so frazzled and stuff, I used to miss out on first press, and stuff like that and like to get things when it just comes out (not sure why; just a habit of mine).
CD Only versions of singles usually just have remixes which are extra, and while some of them really are great, most of them tend to be dance type remixes and I don't ever really like those unfortunately. I suppose you should buy the one that best suits your personal tastes. CD+DVD version has the visuals that are always pleasant, but if you're a lover of remixes then the CD Only are a lot more worth it.

For me, I only get the CD/DVD combo only if its a full length albums such as her studio or compilation album. For singles, I just stick with the CD only cause there is more songs such as mixes on the CD only single and most of the time the PV is in the full length album anyway.

I usually bought the CD/DVD version. Actually sometimes the CD only version have a cute cover too. I will buy CD Only new if the cover is great or the song totally cool. But if not, I will prefer, CD+DVD new and CD Only 2nd hand.
@Pieces_of SEVEN : Actually I'm wondering, are you sometimes regret buying all versions? Really this question always hunting me. And if you bought for all versions, you bought it new or 2nd? Just curious want to know. LOL. |

Usually i prefer CD versions: they save more room and usually I watch the DVd once or twice so it's a waste

None. I wait for the album instead of wasting money on multiple versions. Doesn't bother me if I don't own remixes/instruments on CD.

I used to always get the CD+DVD for early PV caps and to sate the wannabe-completest in me, but the recent string of singles has given me second thoughts. I'm a sucker for "acoustic-orchestra" b-sides and remixes in this post-ayu-mi-x age. I got lucky with Rule/Sparkle in that it was released right before the album (no need to get the DVD) and on iTunes (all b-sides!), and I didn't care about either b-side on You were.../BALLAD, but MOON/blossom is going to be rough if it doesn't go digital internationally. I can't decide which one to get...

(I actually do end up watching my DVDs multiple times, but that's usually after I rip them and put them on my iPod; the physical DVD is rarely touched after my initial viewing).

Well it's a pretty rare occasion when I buy Ayu's singles, as most of them don't have b-sides and so all the songs end up on albums anyway. When I do buy them however, I go with CD only because I don't have the right region code to play the DVD on my DVD player...I mean yeah, I can watch it on my cpu, but it's not quite the same for me.

the only singles I have of her are Mirrorcle World and Days / GREEN cos those were released to celebrate her 10th anniversary
+ the long deluxe slipcase packaging's nice other than that , no I don't have her other singles & most of the time , the PV & making of will be made available in her albums
