The Official Shania Twain Thread
I couldn't hold it in anymore, I had to make a thread for my favourite country/pop singer. After watching a documentary about her last night, it rekindled my love for her
![]() Shania Twain, is a Canadian singer and songwriter in the country and pop music genres. Shania released her self-titled debut album in 1993 and she felt it wasnt good at all as she was forced by her record company to work with Nashville songwriters, and she only got to co-write one of the songs, and felt that the album was not really her own. rock producer Robert "Mutt" Lange heard Shania's original songs and singing he thought she was promising as an artist. He offered to produce her and to write songs with her. they met in person at Nashville's Fan Fair. They started working on a second album,The Woman in Me and it was a hit The album eventually topped the country charts for months and became a massive crossover to mainstream charts, peaking at No. 5 and to date has sold over 12 million copies. In 1997, She released her follow-up album, Come on Over. This was the album that established Twain as a successful crossover artist. Selling 172,000 copies out of the gate, the album was seen by many at first as a disappointment, given the massive success of her last effort. But slowly, the album started racking up sales. Over the next two years, the album stayed on the charts, spinning off hit after hit. Come on Over had sold 20 million copies in the United States and 39 million worldwide, making it the biggest-selling album of all time by a female artist and the biggest-selling country album of all time Twain's mainstream pop acceptance was further helped by her appearance in the 1998. After the success of Come on Over, Shania revealed she was suffering from exhaustion, and had decided to take a two year break. During this break, she had her first child, Eja in 2001, Shania went back into the studio, and Up! was released in November 2002, making it five years since the world had new material from her, Up! was given 4 out of 5 stars by Rolling Stone magazine, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart, selling 874,000 in the first week alone. In 2004, she released the Greatest Hits album, with three new tracks. To date, it has sold over 3.5 million copies in the U.S, and over 7.5 Million worldwide. so any fans of her? I absolutely adore her and I'm glad I watched that documentary ^^ It brought back good memories I had with her music. Personal favourites: When you kiss me, Party for two, Up!, From This Moment, Man! I feel like a woman!, Forever and For Always Last edited by realize_!; 16th November 2006 at 12:12 AM. |

Her songs are so easy to like it's scary (and boring) at times.
I haven't followed her career in a while, but like.. 6 years ago (with "your still the one") I was hooked. I think she had a decent amount of really good songs. I read somewhere that she was the most selling female artist ever (O.o) Or that se had the most selling album? I can't remember though... |

I heard she was the last female artist to sell over 20 million copies in the states which is what's stated in the bio. I don't know if thats true or not...
she has such a beautiful voice, I'm not suprised that she's an easily liked artist and I almost forgot about "you're still the one" ![]() edit: wait I know it's true because I remember hearing that in the documentary, lol

Love her. My mum used to make my brother and I dance with her to Shania Twain in the kitchen when we were little. I had a little cousin who called her "Shaninga Twing".
My favorite has always been "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?". |

I love Shania, and how peppy and upbat and fun she comes across. Love her voice and personality and how it comes across so well in song.
Plus, she's hot as hell. I'd hit that. (Great eyes.) Up! for the win, although Don't and Party for Two, You Win My Love, From This Moment On, and - of course - Man! I Feel Like A Woman are awesome too. She has some assy songs, but mostly, she's great. Can't wait for new material from her.

I'm not a country fan but find I loke a lot of her songs, especially her older ones. I think my favourite is 'if you're not in it for love' and 'who's bed have your boots been under'

I crazy love Ka-Ching. It's just so awesome, the lyrics and the music are interesting and clever. That Don't Impress Me Much is quite nice too, once again super cool lyrics. I'm Gonna Getcha Good is terribly contagious. Party For Two is very very catchy, and it featured Mark McGrath who totally owns the video with his dazzling good looks. Up! is also a very good song with an interesting melody.
Yeah, I like Shania. |

Bumping Up! (pun intended)
I had her Up! album ages ago, and I think it was the Red Disc (Pop). I loved it. I threw it away. I found a download with all 3 discs in One! 26% done of 355MB. Can't wait!
