[Poll] When a group loses a member who do think you should support?
well I don't know if anyone knows this but last weekend it was announced that KAT-TUN's Akanishi Jin will be leaving the group to focus in pursuing a solo career .
so KAT-TUN's now officially down to 5 members but they will continue as a 5 piece group . I'm just curious in such a situation via a poll , how will you take things from here after this ? For me I will go with the last option ie. It depends on the situation

I think it all depends the situation.
Like Do as Infinity lost Dai Nagao (who is the composer and keyboard-ish of the band) when they revived last two year and since their song aren't composed by Dai Nagao anymore, I always thought there's something missing from their music. It's just not the old group anymore. But groups like perfume, I dont think I'll mind that much if one of the member left or something. Because I dont think I'll see major different from their music as long as they are still sticking with the genre of their current music, I think it's fine. So, it's all depend on the situation I think |

aww... it's sad when it happens to a grp. Probably tat why I have not been supporting a group but an individual singer such as Ayu cos it's easier to focus as well. HAHA.
I think it depends.. whether the grp left is still moving on in the same genre of music. And whether the members u like still remained in the grp!! |

I think this is also valid to non-asian music as well. Well, if the group still continue to produce good music, I think that's what matters. I don't listen to groups thinking about their members. When it comes to boy bands, it usually won't make much of a difference when a member leaves. Generally the member who leaves is actually the one who's really out of place or that doesn't contribute much to the groups music anyways

I think it depends completely on the situation.
For example, in the KAT-TUN situation, personally I think that Jin left purely for selfish reasons (I've never really liked him to be honest, too full of himself) and because he was simply, I think, bored with KAT-TUN. In that situation I'm likely to back the group because one member is being selfish. Another example is when Yukari Goto left AAA. As she had to leave the group for medical reasons and later focused on Gravue modelling I support both AAA and Yukari because it was neither sides fault. Final example is when Keisha left the Sugababes (UK based group). It came out that Keisha was forced out of the group by her bandmates so that the record company to change them to make them 'fresher'. In this case I support Keisha

^ wow talk about supporting members !
Oh I thought that this would be about 2PM or DBSK .. I didn't know that Jin left KAT-TUN (I'm surprised though O_O) .. but oh anyways ... I still don't know how to deal with a situation like this since it didn't happen to any of my really favorite groups .. But I think it depends on the situation .. If the member left for a good and clear reason while being on friendly terms with the group then I support both sides (like hangeng in Super Junior and Sunmi from the Wonder Girls) .. But if there was some huge scandal someone has to be at fault, I guess .. unless the problem is strictly member vs company The point is, there are many ways for a member to leave a group .. so there are many ways for us fans to deal with it ![]() |

It depends if I like the person who left or not XD

it depends, i think. i would support the member who is going solo only if i've been a fan of theirs (and their music) during the time they were in a group. if i don't really like the member, then i think i'd rather support the group instead.
besides for KAT-TUN, i was never in this situation before (i've only been listening to boybands for 2 years, and none of my rock bands lost a member) so it's hard to tell. overall, i guess it just depends ![]() |

I'm a Morning Musume fan, so I think that I've gotten used to members coming and going. But I voted that it "depends on the situation."

It depends on the situation really... I might support both, but it depends on the reason of leaving and such...

depends, i'm on the side of honest talented artist ('_')v
if the band turned out bad and 1 member wants to try a better music without them then i support member who's leaving. if the band is alright and a member leaves for ego trip then i support the band. |

If I'm a fan of the person, I'll support their solo work. If I didn't originally care about them, that feeling doesn't change despite the fact they left the group.

The only time I think you should support someone going solo is if the group sours and breaks up and then someone decide to pursue a solo career. Otherwise, if 1 member decided to leave to pursue a solo career when the group is still going strong, it makes it look like that member think they're better than everyone else in the group and doesn't need them. I call it GINGERSPICE-syndrome.

It reli depends on the situation imo... my closest and most painful encounter for such a situation was with TVXQ...
I honestly feel that, it's best if we look at things subjectively; granted there are moments I would want to blame one side for screwing things up, I can't... People have reasons for everything they do, and it's good we try to understand and see from their point of view. For this Jin-dude's case... I don't know him at all, but if he left because he was bored with KAT-TUN, then wow he sucks balls, but if it's some uncontrollable situation, then I guess it isn't his fault~

![]() ![]() rather , he want to do things on his own that the group will not be able to do with the exposure he received in US when he left the 1st time after they released Bokura no Machi de & with that , he's considered the most Americanised in KAT-TUN to a certain extent it's something that he wanted to do for the longest time , 4 years since the group debuted so now with BANDAGE the movie & after/still staging concerts in US , Johnny feels this's the best timing for him to leave the group
