Korean Pop Recommendations

Hey guys!

I've listened to a bit of K-Pop (2NE1, 4minute, BoA, Miss A) but not really sure where to go next. Any recommendations for K-Pop?

I really like stuff you can dance to and feel happy listening to. But I'm open to any kind of recommendations people can give me so I can listen to a variety of what Korean Pop music has to offer.

I think CN Blue, FT Island and Big Bang are really good options.

CN Blue is very different than "normal" Kpop groups, in my opinion. They're more of a rock band who happen to all be handsome as opposed to more, for lack of better words, manufactured groups.

FT Island's "Baby love" is my favorite song by them. I think they favor vocals as opposed to dancing and stuff? I don't know too much about them, I just have one album. But I enjoy it.

And 2ne1 is pretty much the girl version of Big Bang, so if you like them you may like Big Bang as well.

Also, Lee Hyori (while she isn't really popular anymore, she was in the mid 2000's?) is still one of my faves. I like her song "My Life" a lot. But it was an album track so there's no video

(Generally speaking, my knowledge of Kpop is outdated now. Almost all the people I listened to are now either inactive or not popular... haha. )

I hope to see a lot of recommendations from other members as well. I'd like to explore more Kpop. I used to have a huge library, but when I came to Japan in 2008, I didn't upload it all to my laptop, and now my old computer is broken haha so it's all gone.

These.
Also, Hello Venus, a brand new girl group that debuted this year. They had their own brief variety show that was really funny and a pleasure to watch called "Birth of Venus".

Thanks a lot to everyone who's responded! I'll be busy today checking out all the recommendations. I'll post back with my thoughts on a few later. Means a lot that so many took the time to recommend stuff, yay

@Emi: I think the pickles got me to listen to SNSD at some point but I wasn't really paying attention. Oops. I've listened to a song or two but I'll sit down and listen to an album today.

I also forgot to mention I love KARA, so a big thumbs up to anyone who recommended them (I can't believe I forgot to mention them in the first post ) and also IU, I love IU! My memory...

Okay, time to go youtube or DL all this stuff! Anyone else who thinks of recommendations, don't hesitate to post

lol I was wondering about him. How could he let you get away without listening to them!

No but, I was the same when he first introduced me...I was like "meh...they all look the same...and all the songs are...meh"

But their single songs/PV songs are gold. I wouldn't...um, idk if I'd listen to albums first lol Watch PVs maybe.

It looks like everyone here has some good recommendations so I'll just add on ~

Spoiler:
I recently discovered a trio called D-Unit. They're new but they have a full album out (Welcome to Business), which is soo awesome. I recommend trying out their singles Crush, I'm missin' you, & Luv Me.

Another awesome group is Miss A. They're dance & R&B.

I 2nd this, and add 005.1999.06 as an album sugestion... IMO Prestige is her best album to date, but 005.1999.06 is her biggest album in Korea.

She is also an amazing performer full of energy and personality (I always feel asian pop artists lack the 2nd one), mainly during her past 2005 lives.

Try ballad singer Lee Soo Young.

I recommend compilation album 'Sweet Holiday in Lombak' (includes Orchestral mix of the Korean Final Fantasy X theme song) and studio album 'Colors of my Life'. I'll upload my FLAC albums if you'd like.
