Japanese netizens discuss Ayu's decline
Do you agree with their comments?

Humm some comments are nasty and made probably by haters and some are true ... But it's 2ch I don't give them a lot of credit lol
I imagine these people were the ones who supported her in the past and today they are disappointed, bored, annoyed ... Last edited by mizuki-7; 29th July 2013 at 04:30 PM. |

Yeah, I think those people on that site are being way too rude on Ayu. I even sense some paranoia in some comments and I definitely disagree on everything they said. Calling Ayu talentless is just stupid. If she had no talents, she wouldn't have even gotten popular in the first place. :p

For most of the comments, they weren't that harsh
But guess her divorce and MS cancellation affected people's opinion of her a lot

I don't think the comments were that harsh. It was interesting to read. As Pommy said, it seems her divorce and the Music Station cancellation/surrounding rumours are what have affected her popularity the most, as well as just naturally aging of her era, and perhaps not being that young role model any more. One comment stood out to me in particular saying it was her bright personality that catapulted her to stardom, not just her music..and her personality does not shine as brightly any more, at least not in the Japanese media. I guess that rings true as to how she gets talked about now as compared to, let's say, 1999-2004.

I think it's interesting how much emphasis they put on the missed Music Station.
I was expecting a lot more rudeness, most of the things they said I've seen said here or among Ayu fans. |

Meh, most of the comments weren't really that rude and some of them held truths. btw some guy - Nameless - is going crazy defending Ayu at the bottom of the page.

That one was just ignorant. It looked like they were comparing Ayu's real face to a photoshopped picture. : |

Lol that one made me lol. It was dumb.
Some people clearly just dislike ayumi. And then some people just make speculative or dumb statements I think. Some of which come from misinformation or rumors. I guess it's expected |

Reading this is like watching those animes that have a part about a rumour spreading around the school... They assume stuff and throw in missinformed stuff just like those animes xD

There actually might be some truth to that, depending on who you ask, which kind of blows the mind. When I told some Japanese friends that photos in magazines and so forth were all completely airbrushed and photo-edited, they were shocked. These were girls around and just under twenty, but really? In the land of purikura, where a machine automatically washes you out with bright lights and alters your image with a computer for a buck? Crazy.
