Question Idolizing and Admiring Ayu.. is it all THAT bad?

I truly admire Ayu, not only for her music, but for her talent, music and style and how she expresses her feelings in such a way that it brings tears to our eyes (sometimes).

At school, on my school binder, it's a white, plain binder. But usually, I print out Ayu photos and decorate it, so it's basically describing me -- and who I look up to in this choatic world that is such a mess now.

Ayu is on the front of the binder, and on the back, is her English lyrics to 3 of her songs.

A lot of people assume that I'm a lesbian or I'm bi because I always have Ayu on it.

What's people's problems nowdays?

No one believes in Idolizing or ROLE Models nowdays? Just because I have a famous GIRL singer on my binder, doesn't make me a lesbian. I am straight, and I put Ayu on my binder -- do I need a damn reason to put her as my binder theme everytime I change it?

People nowdays piss me off and it's pretty sad that you have to assume a girl is a lesbian because she puts a girl's photos on her binder. It shows how immature and fast people assume others are of a different sexual orientation.

One of my friends had pictures of Anime (she's a girl too btw) girls because she thought they were cool, on her binder also, a couple years back and people assumed she was a lesbian.

On Friday of last week, this guy I used to talk to quite a lot, came up to me while I was doing my work in History and said,"You are still obessed, aren't you?" I said,"What?" And he replied,"With that girl on your binder." I wanted to seriously sock him in the nose.

This guy at lunch calls me a "Lesbian Pedofile" because I had photos of Aya Matsuura and he claimed that even though she's 17,"She looks 12 so that makes you a pedo."

I'm sorry about this treatment you're getting. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing and people shouldn't think there is. I have pics of ayu on my binder too...and lyrics. People know i'm obsessed, and some think it's weird . It's like So what?? why is it anyones business who I look up to??

People are just way too critical of other people these days. If people only treated others the way they'd want to be treated we wouldn't have these problems.

Okay Brittany, don't feel bad for idolizing Ayumi. If people criticize you for it, they probably don't have a freaking clue who she is, and is probably just picking on you because it is easy. Also, sometimes people are just joking around, so don't get too worried about that. At school, I sport my Ayumi binder as well. Maybe it is a little easier for me since I'm a guy and most people find Ayumi attractive/beautiful so I don't know. I also wear her soda tab necklace. I think that is kind of girly, but whatever. Showing my support, haha. It's got a stinkin' heart on it also, that kind of annoys me. But whatever. At school on my workstation for webdesign I have Ayumi as my background and people sometimes ask who they are and I tell them who she is. Most of my friends know I'm one of those psycho Ayumi fans, and sometimes they make fun of me and what not, but who cares? Haha.

If people keep making fun or criticizing you for liking Ayumi, just tell yourself that they are idiots and they don't know anything

There's nothing wrong in having a rolemodel...just ignore those guys who call u names. Maybe they're just jealous or something.
I remember, whenever my two cousins come over, we always hang out at my room, which is filled with anime and jpop goodies... and on the wall facing my desk are the 2004A calendar and the arena tour 2003-2004 poster. Immediately they tease me... "Hey look, it's his girlfriend..." they always say. I just laugh it off.

* note: I am also a girl *

About those guys ~ what jerks.

I don't think you should be called a lesbian just because you have a female role model, and pictures of her on your binder. Don't a lot of guys have athletes they look up to and idolize as role models? It isn't weird for them to have pictures of guys on their binders, is it?

I have pictures of Ayu or Hikki on my computer desktop all the time, and I was kind of self-concious about other people seeing it at first because I wondered if someone would think it was weird. But I'm not going to make it stop me from showing my support for her. Those guys you talked about are just being mean and immature.

I think it's good to have a role model. Maybe a lot of people don't nowadays, but as a girl it's nice to have a female role model like Ayu, or any other famous person for that matter, to look up to. We shouldn't have to feel bad about it, or get accused of things like that.

It's actually quite easier to label a girl as a lesbian because she has a girl on her binder.

A lot of guys at my school have half naked photos of girls on their binder

I didn't really think about being called a lesbian at first when I put Ayu's photos on my binder at the moment, I'm looking for new photos to collage onto my binder

lol.. yea . I don't think there's a problem with listening to Ayu's music often, buying her CDs, or having a few of her pics on your desktop or something. It's another thing when you have to dress like her, calling yourself "Ayu", obsessing about how she's "mine and mine alone", or anything else that could be considered extreme. Just watch "Perfect Blue" for a good example on how extreme some fans can get

I actually have a story that relates to that in some aspects. (note: I'm a girl as well)

You see, I have pictures of Ayu as well in my locker, and a couple of Gackt. (I don't like messing around with my binders and we're not allowed to change the desktops on the computers) At first my friends were just like, "whatever", but then the girl next to me suddenly decided one day to ask, "Is that the lesbian in your locker?"

Me: What?
Her: I heard that there's a lesbian in your locker.
Me: Oh, no, she's not a lesbian! Where did you hear that?
Her: No, not her! *points to Gackt* Her! (granted, this cracked me up)
Me: That's not a girl. That's a guy.
Her: No it's not. (and I still don't think she believes me) So then is she the lesbian? *points to Ayu*
Me: THERE ARE NO LESBIANS IN MY LOCKER.

XD;;

I also have a lot of pictures that I printed out of Ayu on my wall: as well as Hikki, BoA (she's very cute, even if I don't really like her music all the time) Maaya, and Akino Arai. At my last birthday bash my friends came over and we were hanging out in my room. They commented that Ayu was very pretty. =)

I don't pay much attention to what people say: I don't talk about the pictures of black rappers in the guys' lockers, so why should they care that I have an oriental woman in mine? (I've actually told them this before)

*sigh* It is a strange world that we live in. =)

Now that's funny.

It just comes to show immaturity with people. Don't worry, just ignore them for now unless you want to act as I would(not recommended).

Once you get into high school and/or into college things slowly stop to matter as much. Once you get into college everything that you knew and were in highschool will no longer be there. Social status, what you did back in high school, everything won't matter.

To deal with this current problem, look at the person and tell them to get close to look at a smaller picture of Ayumi or whoever, then take a frim grip of your bind and hit them in the nose as hard as you can. If you can cause a lot of bleeding then with a smile on your face tell that person "that is what lesbian power can do to you"

If you prefer to stay away from physical violence then just joke with them to show you aren't serious about this lesbian issue. The more it bothers you the more thye will attack, you must understand that. So if you just joke around it(but don't get too into it.. might back fire) they will lighten up. If not. Revert back to my option 1 with the examination of the photo on the binder.

Believe in absolute power. To have the knowledge over those who stand in your way is hsowing what power you have over them. Physical, mental, and emotional power over everyone else. You will do fine.

Hell, if I was a girl and people said Ayumi was my lesbian girlfriend I'd say yes she was. Think about it.

My sensei and my classmates in Japanese class think I'm obsessed over Ayu. Just because I have 10 cds, a DVD, a calendar, and 4 posters, doesn't mean I'm obsessed. Compared to you guys here, I'm laid back! (No offence, of course )

They just make fun of me, and my sensei calls Ayu "that girl" or my "girlfriend." Oh how I wish she was my girlfriend. She says I should be the President of her fan club. I'm not even that big of a fan.

Oh well, I just laugh it off. Some of the guys in my class think she's hot- while I've gotten 3 of them to like her music.

Oh, my god. I don't know if it's just people at my school or something, but no one has ever laughed at me for my fanaticism over Ayu. I have her pictures in my locker too, and whenever people see it, they go, "Oh, who is she?" and I go, "She's this Japanese singer." And they go "She's really pretty." And I go, "Yeah, doesn't she have the hugest eyes?" And they go, "Yeah, what's her name?" And I go, "Ayumi Hamasaki." and they go, "Ayu a what what?"

I hope this brings the message across that not all people are that narrow minded. I mean, I understand that it must be horrible what you're feeling, but you should also gloat in the fact that your "friends" who think you are lezbian aren't the ONLY people in the world--there are many people who are MUCH more accepting.

People assume things all the time with my Ayu stuff. I have a whole bunch of Ayu on my Japanese binder and people always ask me who it is and stuff and ask if I think she's hot all the time. People get the assumption I'm straight all the time because I worship her so much. What really bothers me about a lot of guys at my school is that they just treat her like a piece of ass. It's really annoying. She may be beautiful, but she is oh so much more than that.
