Ayu & the Media

Does the media like Ayu, or do they think Ayumi is an overpaid, overrated snob..o.o??Cuz it seems like the chinese media doesn't lik eAyuy too much. They report the smallest things that happen to BoA, but when Ayu has a major release, the media seems to just ignore her.

-lol-, it seems that way doesnt it? A lot of people dont like her, I mean if you're not inot pop-music then okay, but some people just dont bother... I mean it's not like she doesn't have talent.. cause she does! But isn't Ayu kinda fussy anyways? Wasn't she upset about something to do with her dog a while ago, and it was rediculous? Stuff like that can lead people to think she's stuck up.. but that's my opinion.. I dont really know.

The media does report Ayu news, as evident in Japanese news sites like NikkanSports, Sanspo, Yomiuri, and several others (just check out the MTV Super Dry thread for some examples). They may not report everything Ayu does (at one time, they did note some AyuReady episodes), but when it's events like Memorial Address, Ayu at NHK, or another big event, they seem to report pretty accurately and without having to resort to things like "that Ayu doesn't deserve to win"

well the music/media industry is like.. i think that people in those industries cant really trust anyone its like " do or die" more a less of survival of the fittest.. i think you see that more in the asian music markets then in others.

She is a part of the media cartell / clique that dominates broadcasting in Japan, so we can assume she's well-regarded: outside of music, once you're "in" this family and accepted you tend to stay there longer than elsewhere - a few big stars still dominate for example chat shows.

As for the music industry side, it's likely to be "still makes money - so, fine". While she wouldn't be seen as innovative, there's nothing wrong with plying the mainstream. If there's any bad feeling, it'd only be down to envy that she's remained successful so long.

Regarding the press, in Japan there is less of a tradition of tabloids exposing scandals and prying into private lives than the US, and far less than in the UK. Stars there tend to get an easier ride, though the public are more likely to believe lies if they are printed by someone.

As for the public, there's a risk that people are "sick of her dominating" the media.
But the Japanese public are more used to blanket advertising - and probably just see it as effective advertising rather than have an "oh no you can't escape Ayu, she's everywhere, it's ridiculous" reaction. Her gradual evolution and wideish variety of music styles probably help a little in this regard.

i'm with your all the way......

i think people here confused stuff...

one thing is the japanese media and other the chinese media....
why should ayumi even care about wat the chinese media say about her... its not like shes selling mollions there.... so avex care less wat chinese news papers have to say about her....

something i see... in korean artist/this goes for BOA also.. is they try to expand them selfs around... but go promote their album/single not just in korea but in the other asian countries... the awser is cause they dont sell million like the japanese singers... they something like american artist... ^_^ they try to be everywhere... force them selfs into other music markets to have does big CD sales.....

there was this report in some asian news paper that said something very similar to wat i just said... about how the japanese singers dont like going to other countries to promote their album/single unlike korean artist and other asian singers that go out of their home country to promote for better sales..

On the subject of Ayu and the media in general, well I cant tell you one thing. The Australian media has never done anything related to Ayumi. Alot of international music news does come once in awhile but its mostly european orientated. I guess the Australian media is not interested in this stuff and perhaps the public find it boring too. Some people are too wrapped up into the american top forty charts that they really don't step out and look around them.
I'm not sure what its like for America, Do you people have international channels from asian and music from asia? Do you get to see ayu on tv?

The Chinese media is different, and I think they don't like her cuz of that Ayu copycat (Jolin? Is that her name?) so why would they like a "copycat". Plus I don't think the media is trying to bring her down, all celebrities get that, maybe she's just getting her big share of it, just like all stars do at one point, ex: Janet Jackson and the flash, Brittney Spears and her marrage, Winnona Ryder and her arrest, etc etc. She's just getting her share if you believe that is the case. Personally I honestly don't think that anyone will replace Ayu for at least another 5-6 years, or until she quits. The closest people I would say though would be BoA or Mika Nakashima, they seem really popular these days

i'm not really sure .. it was a while ago [for me at least haha]

something about ayu refusing the media or refusing to take a picture with coco maybe? i'm not sure .. it was something to do with a fight backstage ..

was it even ever confirmed!?

anyway .. there was also that other incident with the princess of ... er .. thailand!? somewhere around there .. haha .. she didn't bow down to her or something ... heh ...

China and Japan do not have the best relationship known to human-kind, and that's basically why they aren't as kind to her. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is, although things do seem to be improving. Having her perform in Japan was a big step, and ironically the only time Ayu was a little snotty that I've heard of.
