Ayu in Movies? Why not??

Has Ayumi ever done a movie? I think she'd be great for a movie, In the US theres very few asian actresses, actually when I think about it, only one I know is Lucy Liu. Anyways Why hasn't Ayu ever tried making a movie appearance??? She does great work on her PV's she's got a very good way of acting natural on screen.

Yeah... she starred in movies... but it wasn't.... ekhem... AS GOOD as her singing...

Before debuting she played in a few movies (for example: "Ladys! Ladys! Saichou Siago no Hi", "Sumomo mo momo"). The films were... not THAT interesting... I didn't like them...

In 2002 with the release of the "Voyage" Single - she released a film - a 40minutes long "Voyage" PV - "Tsuki ni Shizumu". The shortened version od this film was used as the official "Voyage" PV. Ayu looks really nice in this film (the hospital scenes), but the film itself is... boring

If Ayu was to star in movies again... it would only mean spending money on DVDs that I don't REALLY need to have for me ~*Shiso looks at the "Tsuki ni Shizumu" DVD on his shelf*

ah, Voyage is actually a short-film? thats cool! I thout Voyage was pretty different but I cant see it as being a movie. I think Ayu would be good for an acton movie. Like, I read they're going to find another Bond girl, I think Ayu would be a hot choice. If she looked how she looked in the [GAME] PV I think it'd work out nicely. I haven't ever heard of the movies shes in (mabey thats how bad it was? ) But.. haha yep, no $$ either

Her acting isn't all that good from what I've seen. She should definitely stick to her day job and keep at it with the singing. She's already got a pretty packed schedule with singing, tons of commercial endorsements, photo shoots and her clothing line. There are actually more Asian actors and actresses nowadays (and a LOT of mixes are out there) but to be bankable in the US they need to speak English well and/or do action movies if they don't speak it.

Was it bad? Hmmm... I prefer her to sing, not to act

And yes - Voyage is a 7 minutes long shortened version of the 40-minutes long movie "Tsuki ni Shizumu". From what I know the whole film was made up to promote the "Voyage" single. Maybe they tried to do something different? But it's not so good - it's a nice thing to watch once, smile a little and the forget... but if You are a maniac You will buy the DVD just for the sake of having it

*looks at the "Tsuki ni Shizumu" DVD he bought recently and sights *

Humm... Ayu WAS an actress before she started her carreer as a singer.

She was a model (swimming suit model) at a younger age and than she got tired of posing and 'being and looking sexy' so she started acting. She played in a bunch of movies and tv shows. After that, she recorded an album (NOTHING FROM NOTHING) but it didn't sale much so she went back to acting. And after that, she got her major big debut... A Song For XX.

I do think she would be a better actress for japanese movie than an US movie. Besides, there isn't only Lucy Liu, plus Chiaki Kuriyama did an excellent role in Kill Bill. I think Chiaki would be a better US actress than Ayu. She should stick to singing but she got such a great voice.

I'm glad she's not doing movies anymore. I particularly find any kind of movies pretty boring (yep people ask if I'm from this planet) but I just can't sit still and passively absorb all those images for more than 1 hour *YAWN* A very few movies were able to impress me. And if the movie has stupidities like giant animals with special intelligence eating people or alien domination thing I hybernate for a whole season ZZZZZZZZZ

yeah thats for me too. It takes alot to keep me focused, Most of the times when I'm invited to the movies I say no since it can get pretty boring. I brought i up though cause I keep seeing the same actors over and over and over again, I just wish there was a new set of actors out there. I think Ayu, or at least someone like Ayu would make me a bit more intrested.

NO! ayu can't be in movies! If she did, her time would be divided between rehearsing and singing! WHICH MEANS LESS SONGS FROM HER!!

and we just can't let that happen ne? I mean, you all saw what happened with the whole 'there might be a mini album' scenario. If ayu did start producing less songs because of her sudden acting streak, then one could expect that it'd take longer to come up with a full album, or ayu would just have more mini albums released.

anyways, just my analysis of this situation.

Akurei: How could you hate the film when you haven't even seen it because it's not actually a film...?

Ayu was in several films:

Sumomo mo momo (1995)
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=BWD-1004

Ladys Ladys!! Soucho Saigo no hi (1995)
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=BWD-1005

Nagisa no Sindbad (1995)
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/(mint)/deta...?KEY=TDV-2868D

Besides these three movies she had some television roles and I believe she did a voice in a Street Fighter anime movie.

I think the movie Akurei is talking about is "Ladys Ladys!! Soucho Saigo no hi". In the film Ayu plays a girl who becomes involved with a gang.

oh thanx! This definatelt came in handy.

Well this was back when Ayu was pretty young, and you know, over time you get better, especially after so many PV's and so many different themes must have helped her build a good character for almost every type of role. I think Ayu would be a good actress but not as a full time thing. I think if she kept it low-profile it would be pretty sweet, such as special appearances, know what I mean?
