Rediscovering (Or Discovering!) MY STORY...

A "little" story about how I discovered how MY STORY was surprisingly good! What about you...?
---------------------------------------------
At first, I only listened to the singles, and the site samples of the MY STORY album tracks...

From just those two things, I thought it was bad except save Moments and CAROLS. But strangly enough, just a few days ago, over 5 months since the album came out, I decided to D/L it so I'd have some songs on my new mp3 player. Wow, I was blown away...

The only other tracks I had heard were About You (which I hated because I focused too much on my hatred of the recycled PV) and Hope or Pain Classical (which I liked a little). I also heard Liar which I somehow had lying around on a CD-rw. I actually liked Liar a lot, and I think that sparked some curiousity...

After listening to the interludes, then Replace, then About You again, Winding Road, Walking Proud, My name's WOMEN, Honey and the not so good Humming 7/4 and Happy Ending I was really impressed. Hearing the original Hope or Pain opposed to the Classical one was nice, even though I like both.

Replace, winding road, About You and Honey all turned out a lot nicer that what the samples showed. I found myself humming along to My name's WOMEN, Replace and About You and realized this is actually a really good album. I also like all the singles now. The only tracks I don't like are Happy Ending and Humming 7/4...

Of the albums I've heard all the way through this is how I'd rank it...

1.I am...
2.Memorial address
3.MY STORY
-Duty (Heard 1/2 sampled the rest)
-LOVEppears (^same^)
4.RAINBOW

And sadly, I think Duty and LOVEppears lacked anything good other than the singles. It's funny that I've always thought they were really good, but I've never even heard them and just sort of went by other peoples' opinions...

Some may not agree and still don't like it, but for me this was a big awakening. I'm glad I didn't completely give up just after hearing the samples or else I would have missed out. I'll be buying this album Overseas Version this summer.
--------------------------------
Did anyone else who doubted this album's worth try it out and find something really nice when expecting a dud?

ABOUT TIME BANFAN! LOL HEHEHE I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

And I agree with you about LOVEppears, that album isn't that great besides the singles. I do not see what is so AMAZING about it.

I can't believe you dislike 'HAPPY ENDING' though, I personally think it's the best track on the whole album, truly a masterpiece. And your album ranking is exactly the same as mine. Memorial address rocks.

BUT YAY YOU'VE DISCOVERED THE LIGHT! hehehehe

and I totally understand what you mean about going by other's opinions, they really are influencing especially on this board.

I'm glad you gave MY STORY a second chance BanFan! Personally I think Humming 7/4 and Happy Ending are really good but everyone has their own taste. I also have to agree that LOVEppears wasn't great.

Well, 2 of those singles weren't released until after LOVEppears (kanariya, Fly high), and one of them was released the same day (appears).

Well after giving it another try I realized what I didn't like about 'Happy Ending', the chorus...bleh. Those 'eeeh's are almost unbearable, but the rest of the song's alright.

As for Humming 7/4, the other song I hated before, I still hate it, flower garden is so much better for Ayu's end-of-the-album track/bonus track, this song is just yucky.

Wow...Another impressive thing I found when looking over MY STORY again. I just went the the really nice Ayu-Primenova site, and read the entire translation of the album. The lyrics were really nice and Ayu told me a very interesting story of her life throught this album. If Ayu really wrote these lyrics from her heart, this album is very appropriately titled.

Some of the best songs, lyric-wise are Winding Road (sorry if the caps are wrong!), Moments, About You, HOPE OR PAIN, INSPIRE and Humming 7/4.
