Hootie and the Blowfish

Just decided to start a thread because they rock lol. Where did they go? Cause those are darn catchy tunes. "Hold my hand"? "Only wanna be with you"? "Time"? "Let her cry"? Total classics. Oh Hootie.... where did you go?

I remember Ed the Sock on much music announced that the bassist from Hootie and the Blowfish had left the band (this was like 5 years ago) and then he stops and goes "what is this news.... the bassist from hootie and the blowfish is like an old man's left testicle, it's part of a package no one really cares about anymore" and that sent me laughing....

Just for fun here are some mp3s...

oh wow hootie! that was so 1990's They were aving this "I love the 90's" on VH1 and they were talking about Hootie, they said something about everyone who sees him (the lead singer) calls him Hootie and he hates it and that hes just been branded forever as hootie

damn, theyd play that "only wanna be with you" NONSTOP on the pop stations here.. now its on the 90's radio station all the time.

I guess they just... really left. I dont see em coming back.. but then again Backstreet Boys were gone and look at em coming back now

Geeze, its times like these that I really do feel grown up so weird.

EDIT: You know, I think Maroon5 kinda reminds me of them, in a way. MusicPlasma says that Matchbox20, Dave Mathews, Barenaked Ladies, and Vertical Horizon as the closest matches (of the known bands)

EDIT 2: The most recent knews on them is from March 1, 2003

Quote:
Nineties feel-good rockers Hootie & the Blowfish return with a greatest-hits album — and before anyone asks if they even had a second album, let alone enough songs for a collection, it's actually been 10 years since lead singer Darius Rucker and company hit the scene. In addition to chart-toppers such as "Hold My Hand" and "Let Her Cry," the album also contains the band's remake of "Goodbye Girl," the theme song for the television adaptation of Neil Simon's play of the same name.

Haha wow thanks Felipe. I know, total 90s. I think the early 90s was the best era for music ever, beating out the 60s 70s and 80s. Booyah. 1994 was the pinnacle of musicality.

Whenever I see HatB, I'm always reminded about a quote from the Simpsons...

Police Chief Wiggum - You can record their conversation on this.
Lisa - A Hootie and the Blowfish tape?
Police Chief Wiggum - Its cheaper than blank tape.

OK. For everybody in the Southern California area, Hootie and the Blowfish will be playing at the Orange County Fair on July 12th.
