[2006] Why does Ayu shorten songs when sung TV LIVE?

Every artist does, I guess because of the time limits that TV programs have because of other artists performing and because than you will only have a preview of the song and not the whole thing, and it won't bore the viewers - image a song that's like 5mins long it would be much better to shorten it to 2mins.

Yup, all artists do this. From what I can tell, there are a couple reasons for this:
1) to fit into the time limit of a program
2) they usually edit out the vocal-less interludes in the middle of the song

But I don't know why you're asking, you answered your own question.

That's odd the question didn't show up o_O hmm..

I think most Asian artists just don't want to overkill a live performance when they perform on a tv show or something. And time, time is money..

I thought they mostly edited out the second verse, bridge and chorus..? THey mostly do all parts of the song once, then the "interlude" and then the repetition of chorus' at the end.

yeah, something weird happened to this thread...when i first tried to open it it said that it didn't exist but it was showing up that the thread was here...and then i came in and Chandrachan's comment was the first thing i saw.

Yeah, i asked the question and also typed up a post but I guess it didn't work - this happened to me before once as well! Sometimes I will click 'submit post' and it will just sit there but when I look at the thread I was writing in, my post is there!

I hate when they start in the middle of the song, well, mostly i hated when Ayu started with the "watashi" part in HEAVEN when she performed for Music Fighter in September...I was waiting for "Saigo ni", but no, she started the second verse. I hate that version of Heaven, the performance was good, but she changed some of the notes at the ends of phrses and I prefer the original.

I thought it was mostly to save time, you think it might get boring after a while for the audience or viewers? unless you REALLY like the song/artist.

i remembered i heard somewhere that ayu will not get paid doing all those lives... so its sorta like a short preview of the song...

then why utada sang passion and be my complete? there is this live were uatada sings be my last with a cello... and is the most boring performance eveeeeerrrr! just beacuase the song is boring to start with... so... can some1 tell me?

You're got a point there. But Ayu's got those "mini-interludes" in most of her songs, so I guess they just cut some of it out since she's not singing. With Utada, she doesn't have "mini-interludes" in her songs, so that's why I guess she's able to sing her entire song. Iono, I am very confused right now.
