Aww, poor Ayu. . . Congrats to Hikki, though. Even though Deep River wasn't as great as Distance, at least she was able to win an award.

Although Deep River didn't blow me away, I thought several of the songs from it (Traveling, Sakura Drops, Hikari) were some of Hikki's best work to date. She definitely deserved the award. Ayu did an awesome job with her work (Free & Easy, H, Voyage), too, but apparently it just wasn't destined to be. Thanks for the info.

Most of us are pretty biased on this issue, haha, but I honestly think I Am was much much much better than Deep River. Deep River was good, but not good enough for 4 million copies, in my opinion. But it seems that many people disagree with me since she did sell so many copies! I forget how many copies I Am sold, but it was nowhere near 4 million. I think it was the second best selling album though. 2nd place isn't bad.

But I'm still shocked that Hikki has sold more overall. Ayu has release so much stuff last year! TONS of stuff! haha

I'm not so sure about next year. With the low sales that A BALLADS is bringing in and the loss of Tuka relations (even though that doesn't influence the awards process), Ayu might have a difficult time trying to rise above Hikki's album standards this year. But of course it's only March so no one knows what the rest of the year will bring.

Don't you think ayu is overexposing herself? I mean, It's cool for us to see all those CMs, TV shows, and have lots of stuff released by her. But I'm afraid that could have also negative influence over her image. Some people may be just getting sick of Ayu and her thousand of stuff to sell. Plus, what wataru said about Ayu mainly becoming a commercial idol (which I don't blame her) may be getting some people sick of her also. While hikki, she hasn't even half the number of singles Ayu released, Hikki doesn't appear on TV shows or CMs as much as Ayu does, and her latest songs haven't all been the best stuff to listen if compared to Ayu's but she's got the throne now....Odd ne?
