Mika Nakashima & Namie Amuro definetly are. Mika's songs are more love-based and somewhat have an nostalgia feel to them. Namie's older music is more popish, but now it tends to be more up-beat or trancy.

The others are popular as well, but I don't listen to them at all. Not saying their music is bad, it's just that I rather not.

Namie Amuro is very good. Well, I like her newest album Style... and I don't really like Hip Hop too much...

Mai Kuraki is good too... I recommend "Love, Day After Tomorrow", "Stand Up", and "always"... good stuff

Kinki Kids are awesome too...

as for the others I have never heard... sorry.

mika Nakashima can be a bit boring in the start which is a dangerous thing because I used to ignore her just because of that but after listening to her better I found her music style to be rather amazing. However you have to be open minded for styles such as ballads, jazz, classical, reggae and some other unusual styles not usually featured on JPOP. Her music is very relaxing and can be heard at almost any occasion. I even plan on listening to her while studying when my classes come back. I would suggest you listening to her new LOVE album. People say her album True is pretty good too but I'm yet to listen to it. For songs by her you should look for : aishiteru, Yuki no Hana, FIND THE WAY, marionette.
Kuraki Mai is pretty good specially if you like Utaa since she's quite R&Bish. I find Kuraki Mai songs to be more upbeat and better for dancing than Utada's though (Not saying she's better than Utada though). You must definitelly listen to: Stand Up, Kiss, Always, NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, PERFECT CRIME ~single edit~, Time after time ~hanau machi de~, Feel Fine! and many others !!!
Namie Amuro, I started listening to the new Namie Amuro and i love it. I haven't heard that much stuff from her past but she seemed to have some pretty good songs like "Say the word" and "A WALK IN THE PARK". For her newest stuff her Style album was pretty good in my opinion.

I like Kuraki's song like "Stay by my side," "Tsumetai Umi," "Perfect Crime," Love, Day After Tomorrow." I like the Kinki Kids song, "Flower" and "Kanashimi Blue" but haven't listened to their other songs. As for Nakashima, the only song I like is "Resistance."

Namie Amuro is good.. I tend to like her older stuff, though. If you like hip-hop and r&b then you should try out her newer stuff. Mai Kuraki has some pretty good songs too.. get her Wish you the Best compilation album and you can get a pretty good idea of her music. She has a very "easy listening" feel to her.

it just all depends on taste, i only find namie worth while to listen to *from the album 161718 to now in my opinion..*
the others not including mika, i find overly pop and uninteresting, but that is me, you just have to listen to them all to make your own opinions....

I have Mika Nanashima's TRUE album. It's got a lot of the same musical themes that are on LOVE (Jazz, Ballads, reggae, etc)

Her voice is rather husky, which can turn some people off. She doesn't sound like anyone else i've heard, not even Hikaru Utada or Misia; which where the two artists that I considered to have the deepest voices before I heard Mika.

Songs from TRUE that I recommend are: Will, One Survive, Heaven on Earth, Helpless Rain, I (or is it "1"), True Eyes, and Just Trust in our Love. I think this pretty much covers most of her musical range, however the whole album is good in my opinion.

Love Addict is a good song too (very Jazzy!) it's on the LOVE album.

~~~~~~~~
Namie's good too! I've been listening to her for a while now. If you plan to buy any albums you should get Love Enhanced (to cover some of the older hits: Please smile Again, Think of Me, Never End, I have never Seen, Himawari, & No more Tears, plus two newer ones: I Will, and Lovin' It), Break the Rules (Looking for you, Girlfriend, Cross Over)
I haven't bought her new album: STYLE, yet but I will though. So in the meantime I can recommend: So Crazy, Come, Put 'em Up, Exist for You, Shine More, Wishing on the same star.
Well, imho, non of them just don't get near Ayumi or BoA and definately not Utada. well, maybe one or two... but still.. nothing compared to the three.
Maybe.
Mika is more of a jazzy-pop. Think.. well, I think of Norah Jones when I hear her. She's alright.
Namie is more hip-hop-y than Ayu.. She's alright, but her engrish can get annoying. ><
Kuraki Mai is.. alright. I don't like her that much, though. Her voice can get annoying, but she can sing very powerfully when she wants too.
true... it depends on taste... oh, and btw Namie didn't release a [161718] album... it was [181920] and it was a best album.
Anywho, some of Namie's older stuff are good...
Mika Nakashima's pretty good too... u should check out her version of "amazing grace"... it's just so pretty^^; and her song "CRESCENT MOON", "One survive" are just cool!
Kinki kids... haven't heard too much of their songs.. but I must admit they are pretty good.
W-inds - only heard the song "Paradox"... wasn't the best tho
Kuraki Mai - only liked her earlier works...
The only ones on that list I don't like is KinKi Kids. As for w-inds...if you don't mind Keita's high-pitched voice, it's ok-ish o_o'
Mika, Namie and Mai are all solid artists, but with Mika sometimes you can get the wrong first song and don't like her though, like Impact had said, and with Namie some people don't like her old-school stuff and find it a turn-off o_o" while others don't like her recent stuff and prefer her older stuff o_o"
If you like Utada, you'd like Mai's early stuff.
You mean 'understatement'.
Anyways, I said: Breaks new ground for bad, meaning that it is worse than anything before.
