Legal sites for downloading music

depends on what you mean by music. if you mean commercial music then the answer is no unless it's a online store like iTunes.

Many people get their torrent from sites like T-N or jpopsuki.

I just search for things.

Someone else want to help? I'm far from the expert on torrents, I wouldn't even know how to use them if it hadn't been for martin.

emi: kodayumi asked for LEGAL sites, and no, torrents of copyrighted material, without charging a fee AND asking permission from the label to do so (and paying them part of it) is not legal, even if the stuff is unavailable in your country.

The only LEGAL commercial music downloads will be from online music stores like iTunes, Rhapsody, and what poor, poor, sad Napster has become.

It's perfectly legal to download independent music from places like soundclick and mp3.com.

The reason file trading continues the way it does is because it IS hard to get caught doing it, especially if you're downloading music from outside your country or market. Like it's easy for an American to download Japanese music, cuz the RIAJ aren't really watching us that carefully. But if you download American music (from pretty much wherever, actually x_x cuz they're like Big Brother about it), you're more likely to get into trouble.

^^ahh I was thinking that he was asking just if you could find torrents for music, seperate from the original question, so I never really took into consideration if it was legal or not.

^agree =) and torrents have a bigger risk than direct downloads cos they seed which is the same as sharing
