Since Ayu had sold more than 50 millions of copies (50,466,605) she is now (again!! ^^) in the list of best selling music artists in wikipedia

As for the genre, there was never any difference between J-pop and pop. J-pop is pop from Japan exclusively, pop is pop from the entire world.

The list is made by people like you and me, it's far from complete and 110% not trustworthy.

Well if you add up all her known sales, she hasn't passed 50 million. Overseas sales aren't known sales, so they don't count. Plus, the list forgot doesn't even have Mr. Children and Southern All Stars, and they've sold more than Ayu.

It was 46 millions to 47 and the 2006 sales were more than 2 millions

Also, Mr. Children and Southern All Stars should be on the list. And I'm sure Ayu has sold more than 50 million by now - especially when you factor in the overseas sales.(which unfortunately we can only guess at.)
