Does watching the PV's change your perception of the song?
Whenever I see a really good PV from Ayumi, it makes me like the song more. Does anyone else feel this way? For example, when I first listened to Startin' in the Onimusha commercial, I thought the song was awesome, but after seeing the PV, which I hated (in my opinion), I didn't really listen to the song much anymore, even though the song was good. For the Part of Me song, I wasn't really excited about it when I heard the previews, however, after seeing all the symbolism (art) from the PV, it made me like the song even more...weird how the mind works huh? lol

I've liked a song more because it had a great video, and less because it reminded me of its bad video. Just one more facet to a song

For me the pv makes a good impact on me liking the song. For my names WOMEN, Startin' and 1LOVE, from hearing the song I never thought they would have her being sexual in them. Then seeing them, I kind of was turned away. The songs just didn't feel the same way to me anymore. I do like the story and the meaning of my names WOMEN, but to me Startin' and 1LOVE songs didn't match the pv's at all. If they don't match, it bothers me and I don't like it as much. I like it when you first hear a song and think of what the pv would be like and seeing if them match up, but sometimes them don't, but most of the time I still like the song ether way.

well, either way, i would like the song. but sometimes the PV makes me even like the song much more than i did before. but it depends on what kinda PV it is, though. if it's an upbeat song, but not much is happening, then it is a bit boring. but if there's alot happening in the video, then it's fun to watch.

Pretty much what Beauty said: I'll still like the song even if I don't care for the PV. (ex. HEAVEN) But a good PV CAN in fact add to me liking a song, like fairyland. I generally don't think of PVs when I listen to a song anyway.

Yes. The BLUE BIRD pv cast a little shadow over the song, and No way to say made me actually like the song(I didn't like the song very much prior to the pv).
And there are other examples, but w/e. |

Depends. Sometimes I'll like the song very much when I first heard and hadn't watched the PV yet. But there are times that watching PV or live performances may change my perceptions of the particular song.

I would say most of the time I like a song more because of a really good PV ...

If it has a good PV then it can make me like the song better, but when it has a bad pv, then my opinion about the song doesn't really change XD

I love Startin', seeing the PV for it (which I hated) didn't change my opinion of the song nor did it change how much I listen to it, but the fact that the song does have a very sucky PV is always going to be there in my head nevertheless.

It was atmospheric indeed, but all the CGing ruined it to me. I will stick to the song and not think about the PV most likely.

PVs don't have any influence on what i'm thinking about the song. If it's a good PV, i'm glad, but if not, it's no big deal to me.

yeah... i always hear the song first before i see the PV. PV sources here are quite rare. so i hear the song first, if i dont like 'em, i need to see the PV. and it helps my opinion on the song... some instances are YUI's Rolling Star, MoMusu's The Manpower!!! and Toshinori Yonekura's whatsoever.

yeah i have the same opinion. PVs change my perceptions to a song. but rarely can a bad PV for a good song decrease my thoughts on a song, with Heaven being the best example for this (Born to Be is also another song like this).
But good PVs can elevate my liking for a song. alterna would have been a good rock song for ayu, but the PV made it amazing. part of me as well. the previews did little for me, but the PV made me listen to the song and think of it as a decent ballad. Other tracks which were so-so at first but became a bit more listenable for me are ourselves and forgiveness (the HD PV made me listen to this song... ayu was beatiful as a fairy) |

It doesn't make much difference for me if I've heard the song and liked it or not. There are songs I dislike, like STEP you and B&D, that have PVs I like; and there are songs I like that have good pvs. Then there are songs that I don't like and they have bad pvs too. PVs don't make me change my feelings about a song generally. The few times where I didn't like a song and changed my mind later was because of the song itself, maybe listening to it more. I tend to keep songs and PVs separate in my mind, because often the PV doesn't match the song/lyrics much, so I look at them individually.
