HK always creates controversies with foreign media

I've been an Ayu fan since 2001 and I've seen the major controveries that involved Ayu within the last 6 years. Back in 2003 when Ayu visited HK to do a photo shoot (there was a photo book of it as well), another HK singe,r Alan Tam slammed Ayu for being a "bad singer." Of course that sparked controversy, maybe MORE than the Eason Chan vs Ayu case but I'm just wondering, does HK have foreignphobia or something?

Not just in music btw, when the Departed (Infernal Affairs remake) came out in HK, the HK media gave it a lot of crap when most reviews outside HK gave it high praises. Most of the reviews that crapped on the movie didn't even have legit reasons anyways besides that it was a remake. The biggest suspect in that issue was Apple Daily since they love to create controversy.

Now, Ayu's 2nd visit to HK and even does a concert there, this 2-bit jabroni like Eason Chan accuses Ayu for lip syncing?

HK creates controversies over anything. They probably have the worst tabloids on Earth. :/ I don't think it is xenophobia or anything, Ayu arriving is probably just good for them to have something new to complain on. XD

well the media in hongkong tend to make a big fuss over small matters. and they love to cook up trouble. i always loathe them for trying to get pictures of female artists when they are changing or those pictures so called 'expose themselves'.

another thing about these HK tabloids that talk about foreign media like Japanese stuff, they'll start off by talking about great Japan is and how magical people live there (overexaggerated ) and then startt he bashing.

When I was in Macau, I somehow managed to see those Hong Kong tabloids on sale, and it was something about Twins and one of the girls, how she was apparently "exposing" herself when she was changing. It's just retarded. Just give the artistes some peace, could they?! Afterall, they're like normal people, no need to blow things out of proportion.

I believe the major reason why HK tabloids are so bad stems from this:

I've heard that in HK/China the tabloids/newspapers can print anything ; whereas in the US/EU you can be held accountable for whatever you print , for example celebs can sue the tabloids for defamation & slander for completelu untrue stories.

I would like to comment on your statement.
China right now is different from Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a
'special administrative region' of China for 50 years after the handover.
China does not have direct control of Hong Kong.
China doesn't have tabloid newspapers, well at least that I know of.
But you are correct that Hong Kong tabloids are really bad. I would say

HK media is one of the worst if not the worst. I remember few years ago a magazine published pictures of one of a female star being raped on the cover with just a thin black stripe covering the eyes. It was revealed later that she was kidnapped and the kidnappers took pics of the star being raped. and someone got a hold of the photos and they sold them to the publisher. This caused alot of stars in the industry to protest against the media. It was very obvious who the star was too since they chose to only use a thin black stripe to cover. Later the star bravely came forward and admit it was her. That was really sad and disturbing.

Another case that caused many artists in the industry to protest is gillian from twins incident. She was secretly filmed changing in the backstage changing room. Someone put a hidden camera in one of the lockers and someone sold the pics to the publishers. Fans and people complained but instead of apologizing or whatever, they printed a second batch of magazines!

Hello? There are many people from Hong Kong here.

And, as far as I know, there wasn't any Hong Kong star that got raped. Only one called "Ella Koon" who was kissed by a crazy fan. Twins member was snapped with only her bra on in the changing room.


And about Hong Kong: My dears, Hong Kong is not a playground. It is a hustlin' and bustlin' city, where you'll kill or be killed (LOL!!!). Hong Kong does not have foreign-phobia. As far as I'm concerned, they are foreign-obsessed. The fact is, Hong Kong media will not "respect" someone just because they are pretty or the new "it" boy/girl. The entertainment industry is not looked upon as respectable by Hong Kongers in any way (just my thought). I feel that the mentality is: "Why should they deserve all this praise when they use their image to sell themselves?".

It is not only foreign stars who get slandered. Do you know who Leslie Cheung is? The famous actor? Leslie Cheung commited suicide. People speculate that he could not take the rumours and tabloids anymore. The tabloids always said he was gay and had a secret gay lover. Leslie Cheung's suicide happened a few years ago and his fans in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea all felt really sad.

Am I making any sense? I just woke up...

But please, people, fellow Ayu fans, don't diss a city just because of their tabloids.

I think Hong Kong simply has very powerful tabloids. Plus, avex protects Ayu from bad press in Japan and Taiwan, where they've established themselves, but they can't do the same for her in Hong Kong.

Was she being raped oh gosh~~~

I think it was before she became super famous, she had upset some triads (kind of like yakuza) and she was like... slapped around... taken pictures of, etc. She is strong though, when asked about it (it happened a few years back) she didn't shed a tear. Is that the same incident? My memory is foggy~~~
