1. Yumi: 21 #1 albums
Ayu: 12 (?) #1 albums
I don't think she'll surpass Yumi

2. Yumi: Album sales of ~29.6 million +
Ayu: ~23.5 million + (as of last year; Now it's probably ~25.5 million)
Ayu has a chance

3. Yumi: 9x million selling albums
Ayu: 8x million selling albums
tying might be a possibility

5. Yumi: 41 TOP 10 albums
Ayu: 27 (?) TOP 10 albums
most likely won't be able to top that since Yumi still gets TOP 10 with each new release I think

I didn't bother with #4 because that's with the # of years.

Why do you think ayu can't surpass that? (Not saying she will but there is a chance).

^well she could...but not in the near future...and that is provided Yumi doesnt have no.1 albums anymore..then Ayu in 9 years time..(provided every year a new album)..can get no.1 then on par...so another 10 years to overshoot it

^but if compilation albums are included (as I understand) ayu might get it even after 7 or 8 years... (If hopefully ayu'll continue). Because there will be a compilation or two until then.

I can see her getting at least 2-3 more #1 albums. After that, I don't know....

In one big bunch, I don't think Ayu can beat Yumi. In a couple sections, maybe.

but maybe if Ayu keeps singing for a while she will get more #1. But we don't have to worry about that really since Ayu is the 1# best selling Female and solo artist of all time in Japan and not Yumi

You've got that right. As long as ayu sings it will be hard for anyone to break her total sales. (except for the three most popular bands that sold more unless she can outsell them or two of them or one of them).

Um. Yumi's been doing her thing for like 30 years.. Ayu's only been doing hers for almost 10. Ayu's come close to breaking Yumi's records after only 9 years of being an artist

Yuming had a ton of albums in the era of million+ selling..

Had Yuming been like, a decade before Ayu, then she probably wouldn't stand a chance against Ayu..

That's not entirely true. The recording industry was MUCH smaller during Yuming peak years than 1999-2003.
