Ayu at Karaoke Box

You probably know of Karaoke Box, also known as KTV, a popular form of karaoke in Asia. For those not familiar, you rent out private rooms with karaoke equipment and there's a TV usually with a tacky music video playing and words displayed at the bottom. They usually serve refreshments and stuff too.

So, I'm curious. Ever come across/perform Ayu karaoke at one of these locations?

When my friends and I go to NYC, we usually go to Karaoke Duet. Very nice place. Good service. Over 55,000 Japanese songs, 12,000 English, plus a good amount of Latin, Korean, Chinese, etc. There's a small hourly rate, but if you're going to stay for a while, it's better to do a marathon where you just pay a flat-rate. The food and refreshments can be ridiculously expensive though.

But anyway, when I first went there, I was shocked at how many Ayu songs they had. She almost took up a full two pages in the book! They had all her singles. They had b-sides/covers like theme of a-nation '03, ever free, 卒業写真, Two of us. They must have had all or at least most of her album tracks up to (m)u. They even had a few eurobeat remixes.. A few Ayu megamixes too, where they would play snippets of many different songs. The instrumentals weren't the original instrumentals of course, but they did not sound cheap at all. (B&D was horrible though, I had to keep adjusting the volume)

Awesome... makes me wish I lived in New York, among other reasons. Do you get a CD to take home of your songs? If so, why not share 'em here?

LOL, I'm not sure if that place can do that. I've heard about other places in NYC that do though. Don't worry, I'll videotape my performances next time I go. Haha, sike.

A lot of parents bring their children there, it's really cute. There was this one little girl singing 'Sakuranbo' by Ai Otsuka. I don't like that song, nor children, but it was just beyond adorable LMAO.

When i was in Hong Kong 2 years ago, there was a place called VIP. The cost was covered by the parents but whe we got there, all of the food was so expensive. It was like $10 CANADIAN dollars for a balogna sandwich.

Luckily they had both M and Never Ever. I tried searching anything else, but there wasnt anything.

I went to a very well known one in Hawaii. I think it was Karaoke GS or something.

Apparently, Yuna Ito frequented the joint before she became famous in Japan. I remember that all the latest Ayu songs were on the system [thousands of Japanese songs! x.x]~ I remember that Secret's album tracks were in the "now playing" section. Apparently, they get songs the month before they came out [Sweet Impact from BoA hadn't come out and it was on there!]

I got to sing fairyland there. It was fun XD [I also did some random Morning Musume songs, ELT songs, and like, anime songs. It was so cheesy.]

they also had one chihiro onitsuka song

i woulda sung it but this group was made of people from my school, i'd be scarred for life (plus i didn't know how to fully sing the songs >.<)

When I was in Japan we went to something almost exactly like that. We were there for HOURS and I had such a blast! So many Ayu songs! ._.;

I'm from a rural area though so the only karaoke places around are in bars. XD; And most people I know are of the mindset that only drunk people karaoke...

aw that's so nice all the karaoke places here are like...generally opened by Chinese/Taiwanese people so they aren't really that good >_>;;
like... 3 pages? (about 7 songs on a page? I think? max 8 anyway)

I went one today
they even put ayu's image on Koda's pic =.=; ayu's literally the only pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~. artist with the most songs there
there's koda section, namie section and hikaru but other than koda (who has 4 old songs on it) namie and hikki only had 1 song o-O

sigh~
though, coz I got with a bunch of not into jpop people we get through the list fine XD

there are a few karaoke places in the city where i live (melbourne). i've been to a korean one that had english, japanese, korean (as you would assume), cantonese, mandarin, indonesian and filipino music. they had quite alot of j-pop and ayumi. they updated their list every month, so the songs were quite recent. i remember spending about 20 minutes trying to figure out the system cause it was all in korean O_O. we then realised that there were english instructions on the wall... XD

There's a karaoke bar near a metro not far from my home, but I've never been there. I think I'll go to there & the NYC one when I get back
