yes...this is common knowledge >< 鮎(ayu) is the fish you refer to. 阿諛(ayu) can also mean "flattery" but that word isn't very common. the common word お世辞(oseji) is used instead. They all just have the same sound...that's all. just like words in English that sound the same but have different meanings.
