QUESTION for Ipod Users who put Video on their Ipods...

Hey Ipod users! I know for recent variations of the Ipod you can put video on it. You just have to convert it to the proper file type then transfer it over just like in the PSP.

I was wondering, does anyone know which video file types work on Ipods? I know MPEG4 does, its pretty universal with all portable devices, but its not the most capacity efficient file type.

Thanks in advance! I'm actually using the feedback for a little something I'm working on

I think MOVs are compatible too but I'm not sure if they're more capacity efficient.

EDIT: Actually, I don't think MOVs are compatible anymore XD. Lemme check.

EDIT2: Actually I think .mov, .mp4 and .m4v are compatible, I'm not sure with is more efficient though.

EDIT3:
Quote:
* By following the steps in this tutorial, QuickTime 7 Pro will automatically create an .m4v file containing H.264 video and AAC audio that is optimized for iPod. iPod can play the following video formats:

* H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile audio up to 160 kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
* H.264 video, up to 768 kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
* MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutor...tingvideo.html
But usually the extension does very little, if you want to have more capacity efficient videos, I suggest you lower the quality and settings.

Any videos should be converted to 320x240 using the H.264 video codec at 1Mbps for decent quality. I suggest using Apollo iPod Converter as it does the job quite well, and also is very easy to navigate.

Thanks for the input so far. Does .AVC format videos happen to be compatible with Ipods?

I am trying to find a video format that is compatible with the main portable video devices, like Ipod and PSP. So far MPEG4 is the only one I've seen

*edit
Bashumaru do you happen to have an Ipod which you convert videos onto?

I use Total Video Converter and this program will convert from-format-to-any-format with complete ease. I don't know what types of files are allowed, but I also convert to MP4 from AVI, DIVX, etc. Since I have an Ipod Touch, the normal resolution is 640x480 and usually some videos will downscale if bigger and some won't.
