What should Ayu's release schedule be like?

What do you think? I'd like it better if she took more time between albums for starters. Not only would it improve sales but it would also give the Japanese some time to breathe too.

Hikki's been around almost as long as Ayu but Ayu now has 11 albums while Hikaru has 5. It's obvious who's sales are doing better though, not that that's the only thing that matters. Don't take this the wrong way though, I'm not trying to spark an Ayumi VS Utada VS Kuu blah blah blah, but I really think Ayumi's release schedule should be similiar, like many western artists.

The lady needs a break anyway, right?

I'd be content with just one album every two~ two and a half years with only one concert for every album. I think this will let everyone breathe and could even boost up sales (which by the way are pretty good ).

As for singles, maybe if they were cheaper people would start buying even more. Like, this is just rambling, but I think it'd be cool if it was just one CD with DVD capabilities, like many western albums that contain MVs etc. And then Avex should sell it like for 800 yen! Ayaka and Kobukoro's Winding road was 500 yen or so and sold great! I also think she should release more digital singles like Together when... which did fatastic, right?

( ・ヮ・)ノ What do you think? Sorry that I rambled for so long (many nonsensical things...)

i would be fine if she didn't release an album every year, NEXT LEVEL felt a little rushed to me..maybe that's why the increase of interludes nowadays

i would take quality over quantity anyday~ and ayu is busy with touring nowadays...feel like she have little time for writing lyrics or she writes..but not as meaningful as before~ and when she was done with AT08, she immediately went directly for PCDL 08-09 @_@

That's another thing! Interludes should be banned and burned!

I like the idea about the DVD being compiled into the CD so you only need 1 disc. I'm sure it's possible, but then again, it costs next to nothing to print the added DVD so Avex would be unlikely to cut those profits even if they had the chance.

I think Ayu's contracted to release annually, I don't know if that's indefinite so she might have chance to renegotiate when her contract's up. I think the fact that NL came out so close to the end of Japanese financial year shows that she's not happy about the annual album thing.

More digital singles would be awesome too, I know it's doable but again lots of fans wouldn't get the chance to buy it, even though it should be more accessible. On Australia's iTunes the only things of Ayus you can buy are GUILTY's tracks and the three versions of Rule/Sparkle. There would need to be more effort put into digital downloads for other countries!

I think an album every year is fine. That's why we as ayu fans are quite fortunate in that we support an artiste that consistently comes out with new material. I think a release schedule like 2004 is good, 3 singles and an album with a few months spaced in between. I feel it gives some anticipation about the direction her next album is taking and keeps her continuously in the public spotlight without making her presence overbearing.

I always felt Hikki was somewhat of an anomaly. Japan seems to be a place where if you are not consistent, you fade out and it's quite hard to maintain your popularity.

An album per 2 years sounds good. It will leave her much time to work on her album (and some composing?) and in the same time she can take it easy, relax... Ayu has been going through the same pace for years though. Maybe she's used to it by now?

I agree, Ayu works too hard, she needs a freakin break! If she waited a year or two for her next album, I wouldn't mind. Also, i'm all for cheaper albums and singles! Ayu's stuff is soooooo expensive, I wish they'd go down in price on her tour DVD's too.

I don't agree with the digital singles thing though.......I like owning the actual CD and something like that usually ends up being only available to Japanese consumers through mu-mo or whatever. And even if it were through iTunes, the US wouldn't get it for a while.

Theoretically, I would love for Ayu to take a break... but the selfish fan in me would not be satisfied with one album every two (or more) years xD; Unless she had more TV appearances, not just performances but was just around more like she use to be years ago.

Ayu should cut down! Maybe an album every 1.5 years if not 2 years... maybe if that ever happens her material may start getting better.

I've already mentioned how I wanted a new album (which eventually became NEXT LEVEL) be released on 01.01.10 actually... but this is so avex's initiative to release an album just before the financial year ends to milk money... geez.

If only NEXT LEVEL was released on 8.4.09
This year is really very RUSH(this could be a new song)
Her schedule so packed up

I would prefer her to have 1 album each year
inactive artist just bores
however Album can be replaced by Singles!!!!!!!!!1

Do you guys think its Avex forcing her to come out with an album every year or so? Like in contract?

It should be a single a week, an album a month, and two tours every year, until the day she dies.

haha...but seriously, she's over working herself.

No, but I think they forced her to release NEXT LEVEL on 25.03 to milk money for their finance year in 2008. That's really unfortunate.

I really like her release pattern, i LOVE the japanese release patterns, its the reason i started listening to japanese artists! Because they dont release 1 album, then 3 singles from the album and are lazy for 2 years after that maybe touring, but not releasing anything
