Well.. Before I discovered Ayu (Who was my start of Jpop), I thought that Japanese were a wierd languages.. But in Jpop it's something totally different. And to be honest.. (Almost) Every other Asian language sounds way to wierd tome XD (No offence! XD)

Korean and Japanese is what I have heard much of. I have found some very talented Chinese singers once too.. But didn't like languages XD

I don't think chinese music is very influential, Japan is the second biggest music market in the world(after America) and theres J-Rock and Visual Kei concerts in Europe all the time, sometimes seeling out grand venues(X-Japan sold 20000 tickets in Paris for example) or on big, really well known festivals Dir en grey and others at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in germany(alongside bands like Metallica), but I never heard of a single chinese band here, so it cant be that influential

Yeah.

I think even amongst like...some chinese people overseas, they don't even like chinese music because they feel that it's just bland and ordinary...

which is kinda how some of my chinese friends felt about alan...they said that there was nothing really special about her...that she could be replaced by any other chinese singer that sang in her style.

So I don't know...I really haven't been too exposed to chinese music...so...yeah.

i love chinese music and i listen to it more than japanese, but i think

japanese is more influential cuz many japanese singers are under influence of american music so their kind of music is closer to western people and easier to accept. perfect example > namie amuro.

while chinese singers are mostly for chinese public itself, i rarely recognize some western influence. they have their own style and i love them for it.

i love chinese music, but japanese music is more influential, seem like anime help people get interested in japan and they search for music~

while you don't really get interested about china, unless you're just thinking of the food, and in that case, you won't really want to try the music anyways

though i personally think many of the biggest stars in cpop come from taiwan~

cpop is rather generic, but once in a while, a really amazing album comes *o*

I listen few chinese music.
Like: Jolin Tsai, Nan Quan Mama, Kelly Chen and Faye Wong.
Maybe the most famous is Faye Wong.
For Eyes of me for example.

BTW I prefer Jpop and Kpop

Idk, I don't like Chinese music because the music does lack substance. &then most of the time a lot of chinese ballads sound the same. Just...no emotion. The Japanese have so much though, they make a lot of their music sound great and so full of emotion and feeling.

I like J-Pop better... because they write better lyrics... i've come by so many chinese songs, AND THEY JUST CAN'T SEEM TO STOP ON WRITING LYRICS ABOUT HOW COFFEE IS ONE SAD BEVERAGE~!

That's true, I just haven't listened to too much. I guess I shouldn't have posted that without listening to many more artists other than Jolin and some others. Idk, I'm just through with CPOP x_x Jolin will forever stay in my book though <3

musically, jpop is more influential.
it sounds better and its a million times more popular. the whole world crazes over jpn pop culture xD
in terms of chinese music, the pop is kinda bad. i love ballads! sorry, but THEYRE more emotional than the jpn at times

...
cpop is like dominated by hongkong celebs and taiwanese singers O__O

Btw, shouldn't this thread be in the asian chat section?

Since the General music chat is more geared towards non-asian music discussions, hmm...

Japanese music. The only Chinese artists I know are: Faye Wong, alan, and there's another, she covered Ai Otsuka's Momo no Hanabira Cyndi something. XD

But other than those I don't know any others.
