Ayu Paint-decorated Cars???
On and off we have seen various photos of Ayu (paint-decorated) cars. I'm curious to know:
1. Are Ayu cars only found in Japan?? 2. Are Ayu cars "ONLY" owned by TA members?? in other words, could non-TA members own a Ayu cars?? 3. Are there some car design companies or some sort of garages in Japan to do the Ayu paint-decorate business?? 4. Or the car owners design their favorite layouts and hand it to the car design companies to do it for them?? 5. Or the car owners DIY themselves?? 6. How much would it be cost to paint-decorate a Ayu cars?? minimum cost?? average cost?? maximum cost?? 7. Is it possible that Ayu cars could be made in overseas other than in Japan?? The bottom line is: If i own a Ayu car, it would be vvvvvvvvvveryyyyyyy cccccccccccooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllll llllllll on the road!!! ![]() Thank you for everyone's input, if u have any concrete idea. Much appreciated. |

1. As far as I know, Ayu cars are only in Japan, but I haven't seen many photos from the outside of Ayu's asian shows so I don't know for sure. I know they're not in the USA, although I did see an AE86 once with Ayu & Avex stickers on the windows and an "AYUMI" license plate in California. (I was an Initial D fan at the time and it was the coolest thing I had EVER SEEN.)
2. Sure, a non-TA member could have one - they don't get the cars through TA or anything. If you have a car, you can have an Ayu car. 3. Not living in Japan, I don't know, but I doubt that any shops specialize in Ayu designs, considering how few Ayu cars there really are in the grand scheme of things. 4. This is most likely. They probably bring a photo of Ayu (or something they've designed) into a body shop and tell the painters there to airbrush the picture on. As for the interiors of the cars... 5. That's probably all DIY - the video setup, the custom seat covers, the ayupans, the stickers. 6. It depends on the detail of the paint job, but it can run into the thousands (or even tens of thousands) of dollars USD. A full photo of ayu all over the back or side of your car could be REALLY pricey. 7. Anywhere that has a shop where cars can be airbrushed in detailed, you could get an Ayu car done there. It'd look strange to anyone who's unfamiliar with her though, so it's not gonna be seen too often outside Japan. But yes, theoretically, you could get this done anywhere. If you want to do it, I suggest finding a friend who's a REALLY good artist and having them do it, or just sticking to little details like leopard-print seat covers, ayu bumper stickers, ayu window decals, and ayupans used for dashboard ornaments.

Its all depending on if you can find a good Auto customizing shop in your area and how much you want to spend. I've seen a lot of nice custom cars in this forums and it would be cool to own one but as a show car only nothing to drive to work with. Customizing a car can also be addicting too. |
