Startin' = Rickrolling/Trolling PV?
Hm, I've always thought that Startin' was a bit of a parody of a PV and is not meant to be taken seriously, and I think I've found some proof after watching my Secret DVD today, haha.
Basically, the entire PV is a joke/trolling PV made to have you "WTFing" every second of it. First with the guys talking, then Ayu in random situations that have nothing to do with anything, and finally the icing on the cake excluding Ayu taking off that mask to reveal that SHE was that guy named Laurent.... Notice what was on the top of the charts for the last XX weeks at the end of the PV... ![]() NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP. I rest my case. We were all rickrolled by Ayu in Startin'. I wonder if anyone else came up with this theory, haha. (Apparently, Rickrolling started in May of 2007, a year and 2 months after Startin' came out... did Ayu see the future of the Internet or something? I still think it was a trollish PV and they unintentionally also Rickrolled us, haha...)

HAHAHAHAH. I seriously laughed so hard at the idea that Ayu just rickrolled all her fans.
I know exactly what you mean though, every second during that PV I was literally like wait...WHAT? bahaha. It makes sense and I agree with your theory ![]()

............
Apparently, this PV was made about a year or more before Rickrolling became common. (May 2007 vs. March 2006) What the... -blinks- The theory doesn't work!? Ayu saw into the future with her large eyes?

hahaha I like your theory, first of all because all the "story" or the "situation" of the PV are so WTF*!! D: haha. The beginning is a little stranger (and the final too haha). But I love the "dance sexy" part of the video.
Like this: ![]() PD: thanks to eneabba.

![]() ![]() Basically, they put some youtube video, say the video's called Charlie Bit Me or anything and the thumbnail looks like the actual video but when you click on it its actually the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up, and you basically get "rickrolled" ![]() ![]() Oh and also, the artists name is Rick Astley thats why its called Rickrolling EDIT: Heres something from Wikipedia if I failed at explaining hahahah [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickroll] Rickrolling is an Internet meme[1][2] typically involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up". The meme is a bait and switch: a person provides a web link that they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video. The URL can be masked or obfuscated in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true destination of the link without clicking. When a person clicks on the link and is led to the web page, he or she is said to have been "Rickrolled". The song may have been favored for this use by those regarding it as the "worst"[3] popular song of all time. Rickrolling has extended beyond Web links to playing the video or song disruptively in other situations, including public places;[2] this culminated when Astley and the song made a surprise appearance in the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade,[1] a televised event with tens of millions of viewers.

It's not necessarily rickrolling (but the song, Never Gonna Give You Up does appear in some form, haha) but I'd call it a video full of trolling/awkwardness definitely. The video got a rise out of a lot of people when it first came out, didn't it? Haha. People : "WHAT IS THIS PV? It's terrible!" Other people : "It's a parody! Loosen up!" People : "That can't be a parody! I'm so mad!!!!" Ayu: "Hahahahah." I'm curious about what the actual concept of the PV is and what they were aiming for. Just cheesiness overall?

Well, a lot of the "parody-like" elements of it were obvious similarities to Toxic/her outfit being very Kill Billish... etc...
The entire PV was very un-Ayu, but was attempting to portray a very Western image, which I think it succeeded in doing, just in a really hint-hint-nudge-nudge kind of way... (The two guys talking about nothing, three people in the car reacting to Ayu in an over the top manner, the BOING!!! when the drill hits the wall, that guy in the beginning of the PV that introduces Ayu really cheesily, and that lady who is spraying something on Ayu at the beginning as well, haha.)

Does anyone have a transcript to what the two guys were saying? If there is anyone jobless enough to do so. XD
I actually enjoyed the PV. I cringed at first, but in the end, I just see it as it is. RANDOM.
