Doubting Ayumi.

Well I can say I have been a Ayumi fan for years. But not alot just a few and in 2006 Im really loving her.

Im shocked to say it but Ayumi is in my top 10. She ranks at number 6 for me and Ayumi was never in my top 10. I have so much respect for her and alot of you may notice in posting alot in the Ayumi Chat Section and asking for pics of her.

But my thing is after reading a thread on AHS and seeing people not think (miss)understood make a million. Im getting kinda angry because for years I was would say "damn Ayumi is releasing this means Namie, Koda, Kokia and etc . is going down.

And now finally when I start to love her people want to doubt her sales. Can I get a answer why anyone thinks she can't sell well? I mean as fans aren't we suppose to have hope and support her?

Sure we do love and support her. There aren't many of us who haven't bought her CDs at one point or another.

But sometimes there's only so much we can do besides hope. I'm sure all of us want (m)u to break a million too, but when things don't look good it's a natural reaction to start having doubts I guess. Not everybody can be so sure of themselves (or in this case) to never have doubts. Maybe when sales pick up in the following weeks (overall market has been quite down for the past 2 weeks remember) more people will start to believe that she'll break the million mark this time.

But damn, you made me feel so bad about being one of those doubters. Gomen! (to all here and to Ayu!)

I agree it's sad that people are beginning to doubt ayu but well, there are many fans out there who really support and have hopes on her. Well, I am one fan who will never doubt ayu. ^^

Yeah. Ever since I came to AHS, I've thought that everyone were great Ayu fans and supporters, but I guess some people dislike what Ayu does or whatever else.

yeah, not everyone on here is a rabid ayu fan like some of us

I personally think Ayu is the best. But that's not just me spouting off ayu-fanism. Ayu's tyhe best for me I love her lyrics... and she always picks music to go beautifully with it. It's the emotion in her lyrics that put her apart from everyone, for me at least

I love other artists, like BoA, Namie, Koda... but they are different in that their lyrics aren't always touching. Sure every once and a while one will come out with a beautiful and lyrical song... but not with the same consistency as Ayu.

Ayu still acts young and I don't think her age will keep her down. Younger audiences love younger people. But if you act young, like Ayu, then I think it's hard for people to say anything about age. Unless you are wrinkly and decreped (sp?) which is definately not Ayumi.

I respect anyone's opinion because I know there's artists I like that others don't. The only problem I have with Ayu is the tragedy that is Bold & Delicious... definately a wretched song in my opinion... But I still love Ayu

not me! i don't care if she releases an album and i'm the only person in the whole world that buys it, as long as its a quality album i'll still have faith in ayumi. i think its natural for her sales to decline, and i hate seeing it when it does happen, but just becaus of that, it does not affect the fact that i am a fan of hers. i mean, i'm a member here because ayumi is my favorite artist, no question about it...and she's been my favorite artist for going on 4 years at least. her sales are not going to affect that. and also, her sales are still quite good...i mean there are other artists that sell so much less, but we don't define them by that...i think people here tend to define ayumi by how much she can sell...and that should not be the case.

since the day i first heard Trauma, i have been a dedicated Ayumi fan. I have not once thought of her as any less than in my top 10 artists. She has been #2 for like over a year now, and only one she hasn topped is Kelly Clarkson in my eyes, but if Ayu were to release an English cd she could easily overthrow Kelly on my list. I like Japanese, but i dont speak it, i DO sing it, but it would be nice for her to do at least 1 english cd like Utada. It may usher in new fans.

Nah... even if she's not hitting one million we still love her. Of course i won't doubt (m)u reaching a million copies, it's just a matter of time. She's been on of my no.1 since Duty (well no. 2 at LOVEppears era..). She and hikki are always in my heart LOL

even though I' not sure when (or if) (miss)understood will reach one million, that doesnt mean I dont like Ayu anymore or start to drift away from her.
quite the contrary; in fact Ayu is still my number one and the album sales make me pretty sad, but just cause I like... make that love the album and Ayu, the constantly decreasing sale numbers can break your faith
but anyway as someone already said, I hope the AT2006 will boost the sales at least a bit again

I rarely hear her music by now...guess what, but lately, I logon to this forum not for any ayu-based chat/downloads or etc...

eummm, I think I'll wait until she released a much better materials....
to tell the truth, I didn't really like (m)u, just love the last track of it...
from the covers of (m)u, (how she has gone westernized and failed), I think that's when I feel disappointed with her music...

she didn't go "westernized", she just tried a new genre for god's sake, "westernized" would be kumi or namie, they have even the same singing techniques as many western artists.

The fact is that most of the fans prefer her in her old style because she's becoming very westernized. But don't worry I'll always be a fan of Ayu.

i think fans are doubting Ayu because she has been in the music industry for so long as a top artist, and they feel that she has to go down one day.I hate to say this, but even I thought of her that way when she released B&D. At the same time, i wasn't a big Ayu Fan to begin with. But i also realized that i felt worried for her because she is my favorite artist, and that i shouldn't be doubting her ability. My anxiety was cured after Ayu released Miss Understood, and right now, i dont care if she sells a million copies or not. As long as we Ayu fans recognize her talent, she won't go down. And even when she eventually does, we should still be rooting for her.

I can't help but feel disappointed when less people in Japan are buying her CD. But optimistically speaking, they're the ones missing out and we aren't.
