These are very throwback-to-the-90s IMO. I don't know if I'd have ever pictured Ayu doing these kinds of covers though. (especially for a summer release) They evoke Ai Otsuka, Anna, or Miliyah Kato a bit, like the title has, at least to me. She looks good, however! And really young.

Yeah, the lips do kind of bring back nightmares...

Though everything feels more natural than other times we've seen them.

CD only is my favorite one. The lips are definitely a bit much lol, but they're nice and simple.

Yes, she definitely looks very young, specially on the CD+BD cover, she looks like a 15 year old.

Still, the covers are a big no them lips ruin everything

They're such a throwback, such a fresh start for ayu, she's had so much like pastel in a studio looking pretty covers. These are a bit more raw and i love it!

The lips are weird but the rest is great. I love the black and white thing going on and her hair. They are not my favorite but they are pretty good.

There was a time that her resting face wasn't so lippy or "fierce" with teeth exposed... but I think sometime after 2006/2007, everything changed.

I guess part of it is that I can see these covers on those 8cm singles she released up until Boys & Girls.

Covers like LOVEppears, Duty and RAINBOW are brilliant for example, because they are not just Ayu being sexy. Those covers have an actual meaning. The new ones have not. Even though it's just her face and she's not naked those covers sexualise and objectify her a 1000 times more.
I'm really disappointed.

Funny coming from a Britney fan...

I don't think those covers are any more sexy than the Duty one where she is posing as a furry pin-up. And her whole career is really sexualized, so I don't get the complain.

Also, popstars are hypersexualized... Both male and female.

I never said I like Britney because of the images she creates through covers or videos. Actually I don't like a whole lot of them because of the same reason I stated above.

And like I already said, there is meaning behind the Duty cover and furthermore it actually critises the sexual objectification. Same goes for the Sparkle video for example.

The only thing the new covers do is portraying Ayu as a sexy and like a 20 year old looking woman (or girl) who's an available object to men and just waits to get fucked.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason why most of her fans like the covers. Most people don't want women do make a cover with some meaning behind it, they want them as beautiful, sexy and available objects. I'm tierd of it. Too bad no one here ever cared for the (miss)understood covers and was thinking just one second about the symbolism behind it. Those covers are so great. But people prefer to think of them as ugly and "monkey smile" just because Ayu isn't beautiful or sexy on them.
Says a lot about how people see women and how much they actually value the "old" Ayu when they like erokawaii Ayu.

(And there is a BIG difference how men and women are portrayed. Women are sexual objects while men are sexual subjects)
