ayumi hamasaki as the queen of j-pop

it's my story from a days ago when i met some of my friends which all of them r asian music lover..
n we got a hurt feelin when they made fun of ayu as the queen of j-pop..
we are 7 n 2 of us r ayu fans includin me..
they said how could it be a queen lose against outsider acts..they said ayu should have not been a queen anymore since she lost her sales against overseas acts..
GAGA outsells her on album chart..while even shojo jidai outsells her on single chart..
the said ayu lose her sales even on her own country where she's consider as the queen of j-pop..
it made us mad..
but we cant replay their statments as it's a fact..

how is ur opinion?

Is it sales that determines one status to be a Queen? It's 'Queen of JPop' not a 'Queen of Pop' or 'Queens of JPop' -_-a

Though I love SNSD, but I think SNSD themselves haven't deserved to be dubbed Queens. They are Princesses in South Korea and they still work hard to achieve more in Japan. While Ayu has already settled up a place, a position that even one should raise, she will always have a place in the Music Kingdom. Like Hikki and Namie too imo.

Madonna, as the queen of pop, she had her highs and lows with sales too. There're plenty of other new female artists out there who are making so much money as well with their works, but it doesn't mean that Madonna is not the queen of pop anymore.

If someone "outsells" you once, doesn't mean you aren't what you are anymore. Ayu has her history and records that no one will be able to break or achieve in who knows how long.

Madonna is not on the top all the time, but she still the queen of pop

Just to compare both cases.

I don't see the point in comparing. ayu has been popular and relevant for 12 years. SNSD and gaga haven't even been around for 5. of course the newer, hotter, younger groups/artists will sell more. it doesn't take away ayu's title or achievements just because she doesn't sell more than them.

This is by far the most childish thing I read on this forum since my registration in 2008.

There is absolutely nothing more to say about this. Really.

actually no one really give ayu the title Queen of Jpop officially, it's just the media and us fans. I don't really mind if she's not 'the queen' anymore, as long as she still release good musics.

I used to think the same way as chu-lips' friends for a while but for real I think Ayu is the queen of J-pop. She's the most successful j-pop artist in there, and I accept that. Personally I don't really care if she doesn't sell millions of copies with her work anymore, it's the music that counts lol.

Though I've said that otherwise I know, but I gave up on that kind of things because I know how immature and stupid it really is when you know deep inside that it's true that Ayu still is the queen. And she will probably be that for a long time.

I feel so ashamed for the things I've said at times about Ayu. :< I'm so cruel. :'<

It has taken more than sales to make Ayu the Queen of Jpop.

No offense to your friends, but it doesn't seem like they know much about the industry at all.

LoL at your friends.
well... just ignore them.

ask them do they like ayu?? if they don't, then the more they shouldn't be making noise.

if they do, ask what they like about ayu? her sales record or the music she sing and produced?

enough said.
