Some old English albums-Any worth getting?

I've recently started to listen to English music again and as I was strolling in HMV the other day several old CDs were on a Christmas discount. Now, I've only heard the singles from these albums years ago and liked them, but not sure how the album tracks fare as an overall album.

Any insight on how the songs on these albums are?

Garbage - Garbage

No doubt - Tragic Kingdom

I liked the singles, 'Spiderweb', 'Just a girl' and 'Don't speak'. But found 'Sunday morning' abit bland, haven't heard the rest.

JEWEL - Pieces of you

Again, I like the 3 singles 'Who will save your soul', 'You were meant for me' and 'Foolish games'. Love her voice but haven't heard the rest, although I hated her later 'Intuition' song. o_O'

I've got all three of those... Garbabe is pretty good, Tragic Kingdom is one of those classcs that you just HAVE to have, it's also a just such a great album, and I love Peices of you but it really has to grow on you... I remember buying it when I was 14, and it took about 5 years for me to appreciate. But now I still listen to No Doubt and Jewel all the time. Garbage... try Version 2.0 instead, I found it better.

Hey! While you're nostalgically going through a cool mid-90's phase, go get some Bush! Bush rocked. Oh! And Our Lady Peace, Naveed. Oh! And silverchair, Frogstomp! Man... '95 was the best year for music.

i have the lastt 2, ib ought them a long time ago. tragic kingdom is the best album from no doubt, imo. there are some other great songs that should have been singles, but i'm not sure how you'd like it (since i liked sunday morning). i don't know about garbage, but jewel is alright. my sister bought this one. there are good ones, but the cd bored me. not bad at all, just not my style. if you like jewel a lot, this is a pretty good buy.

Tragic Kingdom is a brilliant CD, although it strays a bit, stylistically. It wasn't really what I expected after hearing a bunch of the singles. Nevertheless, a great album with some very good songs.

As for Pieces Of You, I wouldn't really know. I've never been into the old Jewel-music, although I totally love 0304, yes, the album that includes Intuition. It's a genius pop-album, better than Tragic Kingdom, basically the best American pop album I have in my collection.

Not too hot on Garbage myself, so I won't give an opinion on their music.

Tragic Kingdom is probably No Doubt's best work, I adore No Doubt and Gwen Stefani so I'd say this is a great buy but also Garbage's album is pretty cool...so I'd say between those too.

Garbage is one of my favourite albums, there's not a bad track on it. Only Happy When it Rains and A Stroke of Luck are brilliant. Ten years later I'm still listening to the CD.

Tragic Kingdom is No Doubt's best and worth buying, even though for me it doesn't have quite the same staying power as Garbage. Kingdom has classic singles and the other tracks are good enough.

K, HMV has sales all year round. there is a christmas sale then a new yaer sale then an easter sale then summer sale then bargain month then who knows what. you dont have to rush. and in addition, if you wanna buy cds, there are many small shops which offer cds for much cheaper than in hmv. $80 is the norm for cd prices in wanchai.

Jaggid Little Pill isn't on discount...infact, it's even more expensive than new CDs.

Well, if we're going to suggest a bunch of other artists, be sure to check out Fiona Apple. She's brilliant. And a big influence on Shiina Ringo.

I know, but I don't live in HK and am not going back anytime soon. x_x' And it's HMV Australia I'm talking about though. (Speaking of which, why doesn't HMV HK has it's own website!?)

I just noticed No doubt has a single collection, would that be a better buy for someone who is very broke?

If I were living in HK there wouldn't be a problem since all the CDs are cheap!

Or I'll just shop at all the nice 2nd hand stores.

Such old albums doesn't seem easy to find to DL anyway.
