2005 Grammy Awards
I'm surprised a thread hasn't been made for this already!!
So who watched the Grammys yesterday? I watched most of it.. and thought it was pretty boring =/ There really wasn't anyone impressive this year. Ray Charles won like everything pretty much because he died -.- I thought that was kind of lame, even if it is showing respect or whatever. There is also no reason why Daughters by John Mayer won!! The melody is okay, but the lyrics are so cheesy. And U2 wins for Vertigo? What the heck. Thanks for beating out Green Day and Franz Ferdinand -.- why did Maroon 5 get best newcomer? They aren't new!! Also, as expected, Kanye West won a couple Grammys... But bleh, there was really nothing impressive this year! I liked Green Day's live performance and I'm glad they won best rock album but that's pretty much it. here's a complete list of all the winners: http://music.msn.com/grammys/2005list?GT1=6171 |

Yeah, if I can be blunt, it sucked.
I'm really bummed Franz lost out, but again, I'm not at all surprised. The grammys have never really been abot merit but about popularity. It's awesome that they even got invited to perform. Ah well. |

The Grammys are always so disappointing. The people who should win never do. It really is just a popularity contest.

I usually don't watch, but being a huge Franz fan I had to. U2 did not deserve the award they got, IMHO. I wanted Franz to win, thought Green Day would probably win, but I mean would that song have even been nominated if U2 didn't do that ad with iPod? Sorry, just because a song gets imbedded into society because it was shoved down our throat in commericals doesn't mean that the song is actually any good.
I'd like to add the "All-star" rendering of the awesome Beatles song "Across the Universe" to the UGLY section there. That's a wonderful song, and has been covered in an awesome way before (The Rufus Wainwright version of it is beautiful) but that SUCKED. It was horrible, every one of those people up there singing it was trying to be the one to sing it the best and it didn't flow or mesh right because of it. Not to mention that they changed the lyrics to fit the Tsunami aid thing, which just pisses me off. Then, they were trying to shove it down our throats that we should go out an buy the damn song. I know it's for a good cause, I just wish they had a song that was worth going out and purchasing. Just donate the a organization and spare your ears. |

This years grammy's sucked...badly.
Everybody was screaming out their lyrics and the crowd was dead. Queen Latifah had to BEG the audience to get excited for the next performance. ALMOST FOUR TIMES! Since when has an audience needed to be begged to cheer? Your supposed to be happy to attend an award show. But I guess the thing was so durn crappy that they just died along with J-lo's fur shawl. As far as the acts went...ugh; horrible: J-lo and Marc Anthony...I've seen better. The performance itself was almost like Usher & Alicia Keys with "My Boo" and just like their perfomance of the song live; they didn't even look each other in the eyes hardly. Poor Marc looked like she had worried the **** out of him ; he was so skinny I couldn't bare to watch him tremble/sing anymore.I think I really thought a heart attack was coming along when I saw Usher jump off of the little bridge thingy during "Caught Up" and then James Brown came up from behind. I was like; "That man is too old to jump!" but luckily he didn't. That little stunt thing they did together with the quick footwork was a copy of James Brown/ Michael Jackson's performance at the BET AWARDS 2003. I coudln't believe James Brown told the world that Usher was the new "Godson of Soul". Usher doesn't have a soul to sing about period! All he ever sings about is being a **** and how he hurt Chilli so bad. Kanye West+Jesus Walks ...he KNOWS he took that from a black theater production called, PURLIE. From the dancing in the church, to the blind men standing at the coffin...he knows he stole that from his own people. But the part that made me and my entire family come to tears of humiliation was after his little grand-theft-act; he won some award and took the stage to give the dumbest acceptance speech I've ever heard in my life. "I'm gonna pop champagne for as long as I have to"? WTF, just take your award and go! Of course, when he was giving his speech; he didn't send a message out to the man who got paralyzed in that infamous accident of him. (Mr. West refuses to pay the man he got into an accident with for treatment on his paralysis condition and the medicines he needs to take for it-a simple request for someone as BIG as Kanye) I think the only really good performances were Stevie Wonder and his little tidbit of "Isn't She Lovely?" (That's where my name came from! ) Melissa Etheridge & Joss Stone's tribute to Janis Joplin & Franz did well. Los Lonely Boys was also a favorite of mine too.The awards themselves, did not go to the people they should've went to...such as Ray Charles winning ALBUM of the Year. Who went to go and get that CD? I mean really? I'm a black girl and I feel that just b/c it's black history month doesn't mean they have to give him an award since he's dead. They didn't give Johnny Cash (who'd singing FOREVER) the grammy last year {or did they? I didn't even watch last years so PM me if he did}. Like I said before, the grammy's sucked, the performances sucks, and the entire show gave me nothing but a headache. There was nothing worth remembering to brag to your children/grandchildren about and there was too much disrespect going on to even enjoy the stupid thing. (I bet you guys didn't even know that Janet Jackson was there last night too...they didn't even bother showing her face on the camera) I hate we even wasted our time getting ready to watch this garbage. I feel sorry for the next generation of upcoming children; cuz there in for a world of barely any good memories to live by.

I've seen Franz live and they are really really good live. Just had to throw that in there.

I really can't stand the Grammys. I'm just really sick of award shows, in general.

Grammy's suck and they are made such a big deal out of.
Personally, as a Maroon5 fan, I support them as winners .. but Adam Levine .. LIVE scares the life out of me. He. Can't. Dance. He. Twitches. Even my boyfriend pointed that out 'cos he loves 'em as much as I do. Not to mention Adam sounds like he's constipated also ![]() Uh, poopularity. What a game it is
