soundtracks

What are some good Japanese movie soundtracks to buy? You can buy them on yesasia right? I was looking for a good instrumental soundtrack that has traditional asian music. Kinda like Shinobi... Anyone have any suggestions... I don't know much about JMovies...

I haven't really seen Japanese Movies but I've seen quite a number of Japanese Doramas and some of my favorite soundtracks go to:

Summer Snow (IT IS SO PEACEFUL AND RELAXING!!!!)
Orange Days (Very classical and I love the instrumental for the themesong)
Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu (Just gorgeous and stunning, it has a real nostalgic feel to it).

All are REALLY GOOD and I recommend you buy all 3 and of course SEE THE SERIES!

Will post more recommendations when I get home, but here's two names to get you started: Jô Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Both brilliant composers. A good start for getting to know Hisaishi is getting a hold of the Hisaishi Vs. Kitano Films album, which features excellent compositions from various Kitano movies (including music from the amazing scores to Hana-Bi and Kikujiro). As for Sakamoto, anything is great, although a personal favorite of mine would be his Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.

CASSHERN had a great compilation on the first disc and the second disc has some great Shiro Sagisu work. <3 CASSHERN's OST.
