CDs & iPods?

Okay I am have trouble deciding to buy an iPod or not. I personally but most of my music in CD format, but I figured getting an iPod would be useful to carry a lot of my music with me without having to carry my original CDs around and to also put on songs from albums that I don't buy and just like a few singles from (most American albums).

SO! I was wondering how many of you buy a lot of your CDs and also have an iPod and if buying an iPod has cause you to phase out your CDs or anything. I was thinking it would an iPod would be really convenient overall and it would help me balance out the music I listen to. I tend to not listen to my favorite CDs over and over because I don't want to overplay and kill my music haha because then it becomes dull as oppose to listening to your favorite songs once or twice and then taking a break so the next time you hear them you fall in love all over again. DILEMMA! hahaha Thanks for your help guys!

PS SORRY IF THIS IS IN THE WRONG FORUM! I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO PUT IT!

I go with iPod....since CDs has been an expensive item these days (with inflations and such,...well, I live in indonesia ROFL)

I have an iPod and it much easier for me to listen, since I'm not the guy who like every tracks on 1 album....so get iPod......and if you have lots of favorite music, get the ones with like 20GB.....

I got the 2GB though, due to the cost of it...

I don't have an iPod and I buy most of my favourite music, but I don't think phasing out your CDs is an issue.

People don't normally carry their CDs around everywhere they go outside of their home and iPod and any other portable music player for that matter is pretty much for use while you're travelling while not at home or whatever. So it's not like you're going to choose to play music with teeny earphones while you're at home instead of playing CDs on a proper pair of speakers.

Yeah you made great points ~K+! Thanks for the help!

I think I'll go with an iPod for my "out-of-home" use.

Thanks again everyone for the comments and help!! I appreciate it!

OMG, this is the same exact problem that i have. My parents are willing to buy an iPod for me, but i'm scared to leave all of my CDs...but an iPod would be so much more convenient! But when i do get an iPod, i decided to only listen to it when going somewhere; if i'm at home, i would use my CDs.

I don't have one but I don't think it's really useful unless you travel 24/7 and don't have time to go back home and listen to CDs. It's like ~K+ said...

I have an iPod, and I must say that's it's alot easier carrying around an iPod instead of a CD player+ CDs. I listen to my CD player when I'm at home, but if I'm in the car or whatever, I listen to my iPod. I still buy CDs and everything, but only if I like alot of the tracks on the CD. If not, I just buy seperate tracks off of iTunes

I'd go with the iPod. If you travel a lot, it'll be a great deal for you. Plus, don't worry about "phasing out" your CDs...you can always just rip all the songs you like to your computer and listen to your CD songs on the computer instead (that's what I do a lot).

I have an iPod but that hasn't stopped me from buying actual CD's (since I like owning them rather than keep a whole album on the computer). True, iTunes is cheaper but sometimes, you can find deals at certain stores for the same price for a full album.

Well i got an Mp3 player..and lets just say i dont listen to my cds much anymore...unless im in the car and forgot my mp3 player. *i can hook my mp3 player up in my car* But i still buy my cds. Ipods are easier to carry around and alot more convinient if your trying to listen and do something else.

Now i would get an Ipod..just stating im lazy and its easier to handle ^___^
But i still buy cds...im a cd freak..its good to have them..just to say if u dont have any more room on the ipod..lol..or you forget your ipod or lose it..you still have cds lol

I have both lots of CDs and an iPod (4G).

Although I do use both, I have to be honest and say that I don't use my CDs as often.

I say get the Ipod -- if you're a perfectionist like I am with my CDs, having an ipod means I'm not scratching my CDs/wearing them out/whatever. Plus its small and easy to carry. Also if (like me) you can never decide what you want to listen to before you leave the house (and hence which cd you should take with you) and ipod is great -- whenever you change your mood you can change your music!

hehe I heart my ipod

I bought an iPod mainly to use while I exercise because I've broken a lot of tape players and CD players by dropping them. A good mp3 player is almost indestructible and it's a lot less bulky.

I still buy a lot of CDs rather than buying dowloaded music. With CDs, you get extra stuff like the booklets and sometimes you get a DVD along with a CD. At home and in my car, I still listen to CDs

I think you should get it if you like to listen to a lot of music on the go. It is a lot easier than having to lug around a bunch of CDs.

Like ~K+ said, it depends on your lifestyle.

I have an iPod, but I still buy the CDs that come out. Like last week I bought both Ayu and Momusu singles. It doesn't phase out CDs, because even though I download the single over here, I LOVE CD quality stuff. The only way you'll phase it out is if you are active like me, i'm a student, so we can listen to our iPods and CDs during breaks, and when I walk home from school. Then when I go home, I listen to the CD that has REALLY high quality.

I reccommend the iPod if you change moods easily, or you have a WAY varied taste of music. For instance, I like to listen to about seven or eight different artists, so instead of getting their CDs (super expensive!), then I just bring my iPod, and change the songs when needed.
