Question Would you name your daughter Ayumi?

I was thinking about names I would give to my children (because girls do that!), and I considered the name Ayumi for a daughter. I've always thought Ayumi was such a pretty name, and I know that people often name their children after musical idols and whatnot. But then I thought maybe Ayumi would be too strange for a caucasian child. Would she be teased because she had a Japanese name? I've also considered adopting a Chinese daughter. I always figured if I did that that I would name her Mei Ling, but I really like Ayumi better. Would it be weird to name a Chinese girl Ayumi??? I don't know. Have any of you considered naming your future daughter Ayumi?

Hmmm...although I'm a guy well, I don't really like the idea of using a name of a famous person just because of that person and not only because you like the name itself. Plus if you get tired and start to hate that famous person well... I've seem hardcore Ayu fans in the past that really hate her now. Imagine if they had a child in the time they were fans and what would they be doing to the child nowadays hahaha

Thumbs up

I do not see anything the matter with a Japanese name with a Caucasian girl. It would be unique, actually. I do not see anything the matter with it. I like Japanese and Russian names. IMO, I would not name my child an American name.

I really like the name Ayumi for a future daughter. I really really want a Japanese name for at least one of my children. I've always liked Noriko aswell. I haven't really conisdered boys names that much though.

I don't see a problem with a caucasian kid having a Japanese name. It's something unusual and different. How many Sarahs and John's can there be in the world (haha, not that I dislike those names, they're just very common)? Don't worry about it, most kids get teased about their names at one time or another no matter how "normal" it is, lol.

hmmm...I dont know...I have a hard time with girl names...but if I had boys...Id either name them Skyler or Druin...I dont know, those names kick ass though!

Yet, if I did name my child with a Japanese name...it would be sort of weird when the rest of my children have American names and my husband is American as well.

Unless....I marry a Japanese man, then I would consider it, but only if he would want it as well...

I think since Ayumi isn't heard very often, it would be very unique. I would do it!

Then it would make Ayu very happy if she found out that her fans named their daughter after her..

I like the name Ayumi.. but it would probably be Ayu if I named my daughter that.. or Yukino.. or Sakura..

Does anyone know what the name "Yukino," means? How bout "Ayumi?" :p.. I'm curious..

okay, but remember biscuit, if we have a son, his name is Toby lol.... and Mary, how are Skyler and Druin? Have they been played with a lot lately lol.... that is a total inside joke.... I would name my son Leonardo Amadeus Ludwig Michaelangelo Winston White lol, just kidding, I would probably name him Tony Prefontaine White and a girl would be Destiny Sarah White, or something like that.... I dunno, I really don't care
