Thoughts on JEWEL full version.

Download it in the thread here.

So, now that we have the final version, arrangements, studio recorded vocals and all, what do you think about it?

It's a strong ballad, it doesn't really have any climax such as the ones in Moments or walking proud, the song reaches a sort of half climax and stays there. It's very beautiful, the arrangements are very much like in the MUSIC STATION episode, I like them a lot. A piano complements Ayumis voice in a very good way.

I love it. I was expecting more of a climax, too, but I don't mind that it doesn't have much of one. I'm a little relieved that it's the first Ayu song I haven't really been uber skeptical about in a long time. I'm really enjoying it.

Sad thing about the climax, but like you, I don't mind much either. The way the arrangement works doesn't leave much of an option for it to raise into climax more than it does.

I have pretty high hopes for the PV, but I get a kind of "HEAVEN" feeling from the song, don't know what to expect so I won't expect too much.

After listening to it for half an hour I can say I still enjoy it, hehe. Getting used to it now. I only watched the MS one once. It's a very cosy song to listen to, at any given hour. I think I will prefer listening to it during late nights, though.

if it is like what immel and evolusean said, (i'm downloading it now, haven't start listening), then i might be disappointed. i actually liked the Music station version but i was expecting that version to be some sort of acoustic version and the studio track would be something more powerful with the band thing in the arrangement but not just plain piano through...

ok i'm just going to listen right now...

I'm not that fond of her vocals during the chorus but the melody is really lovely and her voice is quite soothing in the beginning. Not a great favourite, but I'm starting to appreciate the song more.

I was actually also thinking about her voice when I first heard it. It gets pretty 'sharp' in the chorus, and it lasts for the entire song when it well gets started.

It's pretty harsh, not really sounding like any vocal style Ayu has used up till now, I like it. In front of all there's no killing iiiIIIiiiIiIii's aka. CAROLS.

I still think it reminds me of CAROLS a lot but I really loved that song as well so this one sounds jsut as good!^^ The full version is better than the live I think, unlike songs like B&D and such.

I find that her live singing was much stronger..like in the 2nd chorus, she gets very emotional and you can feel it in the live...the CD version is flat..but good nonetheless.
Her voice sounds so clear....

No way to say was more edgier, with the electric guitar and more mid-tempo. Jewel belongs IMO, in the Rainy Day and Teddy Bear category. I think an extremely dramatic ending would just feel out of place.

Now I think about it, it does remind me a lot of Teddy Bear.

If this is just a radio version, that might add to the overall 'flat-ness' of it, there might still be more to expect from this song, when the single is released with full audio quality.

"JEWEL" is so beautiful. I really love this song. It makes me think of "Who..." which is one of my favorite Ayu ballads. Her voice is somehow different than usual. It's really beautiful. Her voice is so soothing. I'm glad that her vocals isn't as strong and loud/sharp as the Music Station version. I was looking for a very beautiful climax but there wasn't any. I guess it's the only thing I didn't really like. The melody is definitely wonderful and the piano...

Hmm.... it'll have to grow on me if it does (I'll always give songs a chance), as Ayu's in this version are still a little sharp and nagging. Then again, I used to think that about forgiveness, so... we'll see.

I think this version is enough for an album version. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS ONE. She actually didn't oversing like she did last time. Everything is put together nicely. There's still some over-pitched parts, but I don't think it really stands out and it's not really notice-able.
