48th Nihon record taisho (2006)

so... the nominees are out! the usual people are nominated... again, but there are some interesting new nominees...

news.goo.ne.jp/article/sponichi/entertainment/kfuln20061201006002.html

for the grand prize:

Kiyoshi Hikawa- too much kanji for me
BoA- Winter Love
Mihimaru GT (good one)
Kobukuro- Kimi to iu na no tsubasa
Kaori Mizumori- too much kanji for me
w-inds- Boogie Woogie 66
Nakano Mori Band- Fly High
Sukimasuichi (Sukima Switch)- Boku Note
Kumi Koda- Yume no uta (who would have expected it??? hehe)
Ai Ohtsuka- Renai shashin

who I think should win: Kobukuro

I love Kuu, but Renai Shashin and especially Winter Love were much better than Yume No Uta! XD

I really hope BoA wins, even though I doubt it x.x

Lets pray for the best

Isen't this given to artists by the music money makers? Then they should give it to the biggest money maker, that's koda.

If the other songs are so good, here are other prizes for composition and lyric writing etc they can win.

As for kiyoshi, I guess he has done quite a lot for the enka genre, he should be worthy nonetheless. Without him, the enka arket would've probably been even lower.

the award for biggest money-maker is the Gold Disc Award

the nihon record taisho is for the "best" single of the year, like the grammy for "record of the year"...

more nominations:

best new artist-
ayaka
sunset swish
aki yamamoto
WaT

to beat ayu's record of 3 grand prizes, koda has to win 4...

kobukuro, kobukuro, kobukuro...

I think 'Winter Love' and 'Yume no Uta' deserve to win, but I think 'Yume no Uta' will win. And I would've thought that 'Koi no Tsubomi' would get nominated for it....

I would've wanted Kobukuro (for 'Sakura') and even Otsuka Ai (for 'Planetarium') to win last year, but I don't really like the two songs that they got nominated for this year.

I'm surprised that mihiGT and w-inds. got nominated. As for the others, I've never heard of them before (Kaori Mizumori) or I've heard of their names but haven't listened to their songs (the rest).

Personally I think 'Winter Love' deserves to win this year.

If "Yume no Uta" wins over "Renai Shashin" and "Winter Love", it's gonna be really sad. I wouldn't mind if Kobukuro or Sukimaswitch won, but Ai and BoA definately deserve Grand Prix.

BoA! BoA! BoA!

Gawd, please let BoA win....I can't take another song like "Yume no Uta "to win again. I think Kumi did terrible in that song...><...and I'm just of Kumi winning awards for sucky songs like "Yume no Uta" BoA really blow me away with "Winter Love". It's been one of my fave songs of this year. Anyway, I hope BoA and Kumi don't but I do congratulate her on being nominated even though it wasn't no surprise.........

Nooooo. Not Kuu....

BoA and Ai Otsuka deserve this awards WAYYYYY more than Kuu. Both songs are a million times better than "Yume no Uta". I have a feeling that she will. But I want BoA or Ai-chan to win.

^So do I. I think Winter Love is the greatest out of all three, and I would like Ai to win sometime.

I wish she would have won last year with planetarium. Then again, if I'm going to be wishing stuff, I wish Heaven or Alterna(I know it's techinically a b-side, but whatever) won last year.

It's going to be a very sad day if Koda of all people beats Ayu''s Taisho record next year. :\

I agree; Winter Love really does deserve to win. Yume no Uta was disappointing and got boring fast, and I don't find much replay value in it. BoA wowed me with Winter Love, and it hasn't gotten old yet.

Go, Winter Love!

Exactly. "Yume no Uta" had zero replay value for me. While both BoA and Ai-chan's ballads were simply wonderful and powerful.

Considering how 'Butterfly' and also the 3 Ayu songs/singles weren't the highest sellers of the year and also none of the 10 songs on the list have reached TOP 20 yearlies on Oricon (the closest is Yume no Uta), I'm guessing that sales aren't really considered that much?
