AYU going GLOBAL

I read the article in the news section and this is some thing I'm really scared of.
What if AYU really goes global and becomes famous in the whole world?
Would you really like that fact?

I never wanted that. I would hate it if everyone around me talks about her, but even don't her how WE do. We all love AYU, but others I think could never understand her lyrics etc., like WE do.
Well, AYU means to me the world...

What do you think?

I think anyone could understand her lyrics as well as we do (for those who don't understand Japanese and read translations), you don't need to know her background.

But if that happened, which it won't, I think I'd be really turned off to her. It would be cool to begin with, but in the end she'd be too mainstream, you would be able to buy her stuff everywhere, and it just wouldn't be as exclusive or interesting anymore.

Wow, I never expected ayu fans to be that shallow. Hello!? You're fans of one of the most selling artists in the world and you want it to be exclusive. LOL Ayu's music wont change just because she becomes more available.

this is exactly what I'm thinking. You should feel more proud than worried or annoyed lol. I for one would be happy to just pick up an ayu CD from HMV and bring it to the check out desk

I'm not talking about her music changing. She is hugely popular in JAPAN and completely unknown here. Part of why I'm attracted to J-pop is because it's not mainstream here, it's different. It's not easily accessible, which makes it somewhat more special. It's like being a millionare, then you can buy anything you want, but you won't appreciate it as much.

I wouldn't stop being a fan, I just wouldn't like the whole situation as much.

Well, to me that's a little shallow, because you don't like the music for the music itself, but because some circumstance. I dont' mind.

Anyways, I don't think Ayu would change for the audience, she never did.

Yes! I agree with you. Regardless of going mainstream, gaining immense fame or just staying as what she is now, if ayu continues to be herself i will support her no matter what.

Well, if she did go mainstream, there would be alot more reason to hate the chavs at my school, they'll be badmouthing her, I bet they will. But it would be cool to see Ayu go mainstream.

^ i guess i understand what you guys mean but still... how would this make her "lose her originality"? IMO i don't dislike any particular artist because everyone else likes them you know? i don't just like ayu's music because i feel like i'm the only one in Florida who listens to her. it's still special to me no matter who or how many people listen to her.

And in Japan, as we all know, she's popular and mainstream as heck. So if she did go global and was talked about in the US, I'd be super happy as long as she doesn't change and continues to give her fans the wonderful stuff we've been getting <3

I agree. I really don't think Ayu would change the person/artist that she is, just because she's a little more well known than she currently is.

I do like it for the music as well, like, I don't listen to Indian or African music. It was just what initially drew me to it.

On the better side, it would be nice because she would probably do concerts in America and Europe.

You guys only like Ayu because you can say she's different, and she's not popular where you live. That's the vibe I get when I read your answers. Am I right?

I of course would still love Ayu ♥__♥ (she's the only artist that I could actually cry tears for), but I'd completely hate the fact if she turned Global even if it meant the fact that she'd come to Australia and meet me =P

My reasons being:
I really hate mainstream things, even though Ayu is mainstream in Japan I find her really unique and individual to other artists. If she became mainstream in the World, she'll probably just become another fad for teenagers and they'll drop her ten seconds later. I seriously don't want her just to become another 'trend' ...god I hate trends.

Second, I really don't think that all those Ayu-haters that have judged her on how she looks and called her a plastic surgery b**** even deserve to hear her music or know of the words she speaks to us. To me I don't think they're worth it if they're such shallow people who only look skin deep. I may be harsh but its my opinion..

And I guess I'm a bit shallow cause I also like the part where she's like our little secret, that everybody else doesn't know about her and don't talk about her like they know everything about her...

(which kinda happens a lot in my school when the girls find out about something that was released five years ago and start talking like know-it-alls cause they found out about it yesterday =___= ahh I have a lot of personal issues hehe)

and by the way I actually love her music, her being different, not mainstream and having great lyrics (and looks haha) are all like little extra freebies we get that just make her even more wonderful.

but I want her to sing in japanese, not english
I don't want her style to change etc.
but I think if it happens she will stay like she was and won't change
and Ayu will always be special to me, my fav singer
I'll always be a true A-fan

I'll be happy for her if it works
I'll support her
but remember this: she's already global in way because we are all talking to each other right now and most of us aren't in japan

and remember this sentence:
''I'll go everywhere my fans are''
we are her fans & we are around the world

I'd love it if she became a world-wide artist , but tbh I doubt she will, everyone knows "global" means crossing over to the north american market, and believe it or not she'd have to change so much in the process, her music may be pop/rock but its much too different from what people in the US are used to.
