Japanese Music Shops Sydney

Hello All!

I guess this thread only applies for those who live in Sydney, AUS... but anyway, just wondering what CD shops you go to (predominantly in the city) to buy Japanese CD's. There are a select few which I go to, one which actually sells Japanese version CD's for $10 each! (Bargain, eh?) I know I've already managed to find a good ten shops, but I'm sure there has to be some more! So, feel free to share where you go to buy your CD's in Sydney, make sure to provide address'!

^ LOL!~ I thought you would be the first to reply! Well... uhm, okay, you know the back exit from Capitol? Well you go out there turn right then left then keep walking until you see some Buddhist shop thing, then it's right next to there... I think, I only found it the other day and I was like.... o_O OMGWTFBBQ!!~ HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE...!?!?!?! LOL! So yeah... They have this deal thing, well at least they had it when I was there, and they have 2 for $20 so I was like on a high for the rest of the day, I bought Sakura Drops and Precious (Cubic U) I should have bought more but I'm going there again on Saturday, you should probably get there before then because I might buy out their whole stock... MWAHAHAH!! And then --- OH YEAH! They sell these 8cm CD's aswell (none of Ayu's, I made sure to check) So... yeah that's that shop I found so many others but I think I forgot where they are, I swear I've gotta get a map or something... Anyway so what shops do you go to?

Meh...You guys are lucky living in Sydney. I live in Perth (most boring place on earth), and there ain't no Chinatown here.

EDIT: And where is this shop you speak of? I might be going to Sydney later this year, so it'd be nice if a few locals gave me some advice on where to buy. =P

^ Wah!! No China Town? That must suck!

By the way, I forgot to add particular shop - Shinseido in Chatswood, it sells some Overseas version Japanese CD's and Chinese CD's also, although they are pretty expensive > <

^Really? I think I read on some thread a fair time ago that there were a couple of shops in China Town which sell CD's there? Or am I just going insane?

NO WAY! PERTH SUCKS x10000000 times more. Anyway, I come from Melbourne which is a lovely city with a lot character. I know Melbourne has an Asian CD-DVD store somewhere, I remember going there in December while I was visiting family to buy a BoA CD, but don't remember where.

*Sorry, off topic*

Lol Sydneysiders haha there's a really good one in that strip at Haymarket where all the restaurants are. It's on the northern end. I'll give you the street name when I look it up next. And there's another one on George St. which sells all anime and other Asian stuff just before Railway Square, next to a couple of Pawn Shops. Pretty sure they're all bootleg though. Only decent if you can't be bothered to download them.

There was ONE really small shop here in Perth that used to sell a few random Japanese/Korean albums (mostly Utada Hikaru and BoA), but they went out of business years ago. Now there's only one shop called "Morning Glory" that sells Korean albums only at ridiculous mark ups. They had BoA's Identity CD only, OS version, and were trying to sell it for $40...

All SA's Morning Glory stores changed to EverBlue stores a few years back. They used to sell bootleg anime here but no music ;_;

SA doesn't have anywhere to buy legit music, so online is the only way. Shin Tokyo's CDs are all SonMay or Ever Anime, which are bootleg CDs. I sometimes spend spree when I go to Melbourne though, but that's pretty rare!!

lol I was going to suggest Rong Bao Tang in Chinatown on Dixon St but someone beat me to it! When I still bought Japanese CD's I'd always go there... it's been a really long time though because now I just order my CDs online. But anyway, I've seen tonnes of Japanese CD shops around Chinatown. I tihnk there's another Rong Bao Tang on Thomas St near Market City too.

And off-topic, I love Melbourne! I'm a Sydney girl, but I could convert to a Melbourne girl anytime haha

PS: Rong Bao Tang's CDs (well at least the Ayu ones) are all authentic (they've got the authentic serial codes on the side, AV-something something). CD+DVD albums sell for more or less about $30 each... which isn't bad considering you don't have to pay for postage and handling. I only order online cos I'm too lazy to actually buy at the shop LOL. As far as I know though most of the Japanese DVDs are overseas versions.
