mmm...is it just me? but I think ayu has gained some weight lately..since she went to HK for 09 calendar shot..she seems to have gained some weight..not that I dunno like her now but just a thought

I wonder why did she gain weight??? stress???

I'm sure she's gained weight at different times throughout her life/career. There have been days where she was thin one week and the next she looked a little more plump. However, I never think that she's fatter than when she was younger. I think she's filled out more and even gained muscle.

For example, I was watching "evolution" from a-nation '02 and I couldn't stop starting at her belly! So flat, so cute, so tiny! Then I saw her perform "is this LOVE?" at a-nation '05 and looked at her stomach again. It was certainly bigger (shaped differently) than from 2002, but I honestly think it's muscle. Besides, you can see little abs, too. ^^

Her weight has always fluctuated a bit, but yes, right now she does look less fit than usual. You can really see that her arms look much thicker than they used to. This shouldn't really be a question of age either because if you are taking care of yourself with diet and excersize, her being 30 shouldn't be an issue in this as 30 really isn't that old yet. I'm not sure whats causing it. Maybe she has a thyroid problem or something, who knows.

2005 was probably her most fit time period. She was still very thin but had good muscle tone as well.

Yea around the end of the Japanese leg of AT08, but I think she went back to normal judging from the pictures from her concert in HK.

yes i noticed in her calendar shoot she was looking much bigger. but since then, it looks like she has lost a bit of weight and looks like a normal weight, not too thin but not too large. of course when she gains weight it will look like she gained a lot more than she really did, since she is so short. poor ayu.
maybe since it is her 10th anniversary, she is celebrating by eating a lot of food?

yea I agree. she has gained some weight during AT 08 and around the shooting for 09 calendar, but I think before she went back to HK last week, she has been looking a little slim again.

There have been several before, yes. Apparently it's an amazing topic of discussion that comes up a few times every year... I don't think there's ever been a time where I would ever call her "fat" though, that's for sure.

I noticed she looked chubbier, definitely not fat, but not as toned. I thought that maybe she gained weight to have a bigger bust? (I mean she is the Warcoal model for some countries) And then after doing, she just liked being a bit curvy. Or maybe she's just stressed and eats her feelings... Not trying to be mean, she's always pretty. But I just don't see how some people can say being less toned is healthier.
I mean look at A Museum 03 and then a-nation 08.

If she's anything like me (which is scary because Ayu and I are actually really alike, so I wouldn't be surprised =P) then she would bloat like crazy once a month and look like she's gained about 10 pounds. yay for being female.

But eh, my physique fluctuates all the time as well. I think most of us do. =P

How can people notice such little change in her body? I've never once thought of Ayu as chubby or fat. She gains a few pounds and people feel the need to make a thread about it.

if you read carefully, the first post of this thread never said she's "fat" or "chubby"..just said she "gained some weight"..and the purpose of this thread is to discuss why she gained some weight as indicated on the first post, not if she is fat or not

I see this weight discussion same as discussing why she changed her hairstyle, or her use of certain dancers...afterall, ayu presents to us not only with her music, but also her image which is copied and admired by so many...therefore ayu's lyrics, music, appearance, attitude etc makes up the ayu that we like

but if this thread is offensive to some initiates, staff feel free to delete it and I'll know better to shut up next time

No no. I'm not trying to attack you or anything. I just get kind of annoyed when people point out her weight. It could be because of stress, her period or anything. I know it's gross to think about but women do look like they've gained a bunch of pounds when they're menstruating. I wish I looked as fit as her, but I don't think it's a bad thing that she's gained a few pounds. Atleast she's not unhealthy-skinny, right?

she definitely hasnt been working on her body as much as in like 2005. She had the best body in 2005 compared to her other years. She looks great right now though, just doesnt have the athletic look
