MY Japan Trip (w/ relation to Ayu)

OKOK..im not here to just talk about my (very nice) Japan trip.
The fact that I posted here means it has to do with Ayu...
and How can I not go to Japan without mentioning her..

Basically it was a school trip from 10th to 17th Dec (the day Days/GREEN was released...sadly)

Before this, my friend told me there is this mega poster of Ayu at Shibuya (i think for Days/GREEN promo.) So i was Super-hyped about it, hoping that we would pass by...though our itinerary did NOT have Shibuya

Ok so on the 10th...my friend and I actually went to HMV to find Ayu CDs and they were on sale of course. (He wanted to buy Days/GREEN but i told him, it's very impossible to find it One week earlier...lol)

and I was in Tokyo for 3 days...(with the other 3 days in Nagano) and i saw NO Ayu promotion at all. (i guess, they don't promote Singles...but even that, I only spotted EXILE and Hey!Say!Jump!'s promo billboards)

Going on, the 11th, was an exchange programme with a Japanese High school. So i mentioned to the students I like Hamasaki Ayumi and then, they said "O!!!" and I went on to other artistes as well. I even let one girl listen to "Days" (apparently she had no idea of the new song coming out in one week's time). And, i asked her what Ayu song she liked. She showed me in her phone "Together When..." *happy*

And on the last night, it was "BEST ARTISTE" night. And I was so desperate to watch it. It started at 7pm and at 7pm, we were visitng Tokyo Tower (gosh..you can imagine how frantic my friend and I was)..and we only arrived at the hotel, turned on the TV at 9.35pm O.O

and then They were having Porno Graffiti, Kobukuro, ARASHI, Southern All Stars...and then BRITNEY SPEARS...
and I was like "O man..we missed her...All the Big famous male/group bands are out..and even Britney is out already..the show is ending" *disappointed*

then After that, they showed the doorway where artiste will usually come out..and I saw this white fluffy dress and then

"AYU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" (we screamed like fanboys)

and she was so gorgeous....Sung so amazingly really...gosh..
++ She closed the show

I was singing along to Days with some other roommates shocked..coz I didnt know Japanese yet I could sing a full Japanese song, and not to mention, the latest one. hahha!

So the last day in Japan...My friend really really wanted to buy Days/GREEN..and we were already at the airport.
20 minutes before boarding, I saw this shop with a CD rack..and I quickly ran over but..it wasnt on sale (yet it was the 17th)...there was only A COMPLETE, a-yu-mix 6 GOLD and SILVER and one more...



So conclusion: it was so amazing to end my night in Japan watching Ayu hahaha. and after that interaction with high school students + the last artiste on the show...I think Ayu has reached the point of, not being FAVOURITE artiste but RESPECTED...a much greater achievement i feel.

Wow cool. Just the fact you got to go to Japan is something. Did you actually attend Best Artist 2008 and see Ayu in person...or watch it on the TV? I'm assuming it's the latter from the way you worded everything.

I think she was the last artist because she won the poll; 130 million viewers choose. Something like that. I'm not very sure so don't take my word for it.

The artists aren't really performing in any specific order on the show. ie last does not mean that the person had the most votes cast and first does not mean the least votes.

And Ayu has been closing this particular show for years now, maybe even since its first airing in 2001 but I'm not sure about that - so its definitely not some new privilege awarded to her.

I'm from Singapore..
It was a school trip to visit Waseda uni. But mostly subsidised by the Japanese govt and the school.

haha yea, i felt quite proud to say Ayu is my idol but of coz..i wasnt sure what kinda response I was gonna get..

yea..Ayu didnt have the highest/longest bars...
I think i remember her closing with Together When... last year..but still, i had no hopes for her to close the show..
(and closing the show still means a big thing i think hahaha..)

Sounds like you had a ton of fun I can't believe they didnt let you go to Shibuya though. It's like one of the best parts of Tokyo. Did you atleast get to goto Akihabara?

yea i saaw NO promotion for her single..not even a CM...but thats probably coz i had 3 nights at the dormitory with no TV...

and I watched BEST ARTISTE on tv hahah...

I didnt go to Shibuya NOR akihabara...sadly...
if not i THINK i wont have seen at least a billboard...

O YES!
the first song I heard on my MP3 in Japan was SURREAL...and it just felt so good to listen to Japanese song IN Japan..hahha
