[Song-names] makes sense or not??
Make your top 5 for both categories!
"song-names" that you think that make a lot of sense for the song and/or pv. and songs that the name do not fit or make any sense at all! or they're just lame names, boring, not creative. MAKE SENSE: -NEXT LEVEL (I like the tittle of this song, it fits the lyrics and the pv perfectly, plus, it wasn't what we all were expecting for. The song is all cute and lovely.) -SEASONS (love the name of this song!! love the lyrics as well... the way that the song and lyrics start fits the name of the song a 100%.) -HANABI ~episode II~ (This feeling, this feeling, go up into the sky And be dispersed beautifully like a firework) -(don't) leave me alone (Leave me alone now... But don't leave me alone.) -A Song for XX (we all know the real meaning of "XX". Excellent name. Love all about this song!) MAKES NOT SENSE: -+ (the only reason that I can think of to call a song like this in this case is because they couldn't find any other more interesting name for it. It comes at the end of RAINBOW, after independent... so lets call it "plus" .)-Humming 7/4 (whats the meaning of this?? Dx) -(miss)understood (I'm sorry (miss)understood lovers, but this "word" has been used a thousand times before by many other female artists... I think that the song deserved a better name, something more creative.) -teens (cute song, but why teens?) -FRIEND II (comes after "FRIEND" in the album! lets call it "FRIEND II" .....) (based on my opinion! do not bash me or any other opinions in this thread please!! lol) Last edited by SURREAL__RAINBOW; 26th April 2009 at 10:34 AM. |

Ooo this is fun!
5 Titles that make Sense: 1) (miss)understood I like the play on words here... misunderstood, or Miss. Understood? I think we all know which one she means through the song. ![]() 2) evolution The song is totally like that, and the lyrics really speak of moving to a new era. 3) (don't) Leave me alone LOVE the bracketed don't so much! It makes a lot of sense actually, and it's really cool too. 4) It was Beautiful song with a beautiful title. 5) Days Basically, the song and title is more like "The days I spent with you are..." 5 Titles that don't make Sense: 1) + Um, what does this mean to the song again. 2) Humming 7/4 Bad song, weird title. 3) In The Corner Great song, but the title was copied from the sweetbox's one! And it doesn't make sense to the lyrics... other than sounding/looking cool. 4) girlish The song isn't even about girls! 5) Are You Wake Up? LOL.

I only found out after watching Countdown Live 2007-2008, because she performs it there ![]() and then I bought the RAINBOW album and I was surprised to hear that song after Independent!

Well a poker face actually refers to a face with no expression... and in the song I think she sang something like how she could cry but she wanted to laugh or something... it's a contradiction of facial expressions, so perhaps that was what she meant.

I can't make such lists, really, but the Humming 7/4, it's something about the rhythm
I don't really remember it, but I read it somewhere about the PV

I believe that some titles are chosen due to commercial demand... They use it just because it looks "cool" and still ayumi-sh...
Really some songs are just BLAH! Where the hell do they get the title? Anyone hasn't mention alterna?

^ I dunno, I always thought alterna made sense. The lyrics are a little unrelated but I think the meaning becomes clear in the PV. Ayu was speaking out against being used as an 'object' by Avex and I thought that perhaps she was trying to say that she felt trapped - she didn't want to do what they made her, but there is no alternative?
Also, I'm pretty sure that the 7/4 in Humming 7/4 comes from the beats per minute used in the track - plus, the song is something I hum to a lot ![]() Hmm, so here's my list, in no particular order, just random~ 5 song titles that make sense: 1) Pride 2) A Song for XX 3) evolution 4) NEXT LEVEL 5) JEWEL 5 song titles that make no sense: 1) ever free 2) Life 3) vogue 4) girlish 5) HANABI |

Imo all of Ayu's song titles are very related to the song/lyrics. But here's some that took me some thought before I really understood the title-lyrics connection:
vogue Naturally NEVER EVER Oh yeah and the infamous alterna...^ I dunno, but I think it's some kind of lost in translation error. She probably thought it has something to do with "alternative" or something.

But "alterna" alone isn't really a word, right? So that's why I think she was "lost in translation".

It suppose it's possible she shortened the word to create speculation about its meaning, drawing more attention to the PV?

Ok, maybe you know Rihanna's song Disturbia. This verb is changed in a gerund, or whatever. I mean: the title is based on the verb to disturb. Alterna, means "changed, different" > alter = to change, to reform.

Alterna is often used to refer to alternative music. I've seen it in articles written as that, so I may be wrong.

Actually she sings about humming in Humming 7/4
everybody GO! everybody JUMP! Humming a song ![]() And as others have stated, I think the 7/4 has to do with the time signature of the song. Last edited by dreamland2.0; 26th April 2009 at 05:38 PM. |
