Sorry, I don't really have anything helpful to say...
but I just wanted to say that I second this request. I've kinda been wondering how to make vocal tracks, too.

Well there's a Japanese program called 'utagoe' and it makes vocal tracks if you have the song + karaoke. all you have to do is convert it to wave format

I was actually gonna try and see if I could make one with Audacity. I was gonna import both the original & karaoke and use the Noise Removal tool to sample and take out the background music. ...Sadly, Audacity isn't compatible with either AAC (iTunes) or WMA (Windows Media Player) files, so I couldn't import the files to begin with. And I don't wanna deal with file converters, (which I tried one or 2, and I question if they're even compatible with AAC & WMA files) so, if I ever figure something out, I'll try it.

AyuRox, I use Audacity, but there isn't a way to perfectly remove the music unless both the original song and karaoke are the exact same mix (and a lot aren't). Even then, it doesn't work perfectly. Your best bet would be to find a different program, because I've been using Audacity for this purpose without any good results. )=

Maybe its because I haven't listened to the instrumentals (all 6 that I have... :/) enough times and with enough intent to notice any diference between them and their originals, but the only instrumental I noticed a significant difference in was the karaoke version of Caramelldansen. (I'm not saying that you're wrong, or that there is no difference, just that I never noticed one myself) [edit] and before anyone goes to some huge trouble on my behalf (yeah, right...), its not really a big deal to me if i can make vocal tracks or not. I just thought I'd give my input.

You put the original file in the first box, the instrumental in the second, then choose where you want to save the file in the third box, then you press the button with the green music note, and THEN it should be completed, if I understood correctly.

also, in this video, it just so works out that the vocal track is perfect. That happens usually 1% of the time when making a vocal track. 99% of the time, you need to not only invert, but also filter out other stuff later.
lol people in audacity upload original song in first slot upload karaoke/instrumental in second slot double click on the original song in the first slot to bring it into edit view make sure the song is stopped, not paused at the top go to "effects", then "invert" then at the top right, go back to multitrack view hit play and zoom in very well. try to line up both songs as well as possible. the closer you sync them up, the less music you hear. hit stop, go to file, export, and save it. if you want, you can reload the new vocal track you made and filter out more sounds throgh the adaptive noise reducer. or something called that back in edit view, under effects but that's only if you really want to. Quote:
now playing > more options > rip music > Format: (drop down bar) mp3 > very bottom, the slider bar, slide it as far right as possible for highest/best quality when ripping songs > ok. Not sure if you wanted that or not though, but you mentioned audition doesn't accept wma format.
