Thumbs down WTH is Avex's problem? STILL no Ayu on Blu-Ray?!

This is so frustrating to me. 2009 is more than half way over and Avex still hasn't released a single Blu-Ray for Ayumi? What is their problem?!

Can someone fill me in? I have a theory but I want to hear some responses before I share hat I think. It makes me really disappointed though for sure.

Er...blueray is expensive technology, most of us are happy enough with DVDs...that's why.
I don't know anyone who has a blueray player on their computer, or a blueray DVD player.

I'm sure once regular DVDs and their format become obsolete, avex will start releasing Ayu DVDs (at least the concerts) in Blu-ray format.

I'm not sure how popular blue ray is in Japan. Them releasing Namie's tour may be a test to see if releasing blue ray is even worth it sales wise.

I just got back from Japan and hardly anybody I talked to there knew what blu-ray was. It just hasn't caught up there yet.

Doesn't matter to me, I still use DVDs. NEver even seen a blu-ray.

That's rather odd, considering the stereotype that the Japanese are always at the forefront of new technology and such. Bluray is Japanese too.

I guess it'll come around eventually. Hopefully they'll release backwards.

its true but japan is an expensive country .already in us a blu ray is 30$ for a brand new release in japan is 60 $ .

i think people know about it ( since all playstation 3 in the wolrd read blu ray) but just dont use it for the simple reason that their dvd is already HQ ( already higher than ours) so why buy blu ray? +dvd are way cheapper so .

higher quality than which dvds? japanese dvds are higher resolution(really slightly higher only) but less pictures each second(which makes it quite a bit worse again) than for example american dvds

and the difference between bluray and dvd is giant, especially the definition difference(bluray is 1920x1080, dvd is something around 720x480) and more brilliant colors, if you ever watched a bluray you never want to watch a dvd again, NEVER

Really? I thought technology is quite cheap in contrast to the european market. Or is the US market even cheaper than Japan?

Blu-Ray quality is great, seriously.
I do think Avex will sell Blu-Rays of all their big artists soon. The economical situation isn't great at the moment, but if it gets better they'll sure begin to bring out Ayu Blu-Rays.

This stereotype is somewhat wrong. Internet, for example, caught up in Japan years after most of the world. Digital cameras too.

Avex released Ai Otsuka's concert tour 2007 on Blu-ray back in January 2008. That's the first blu-ray from them if I recall correctly:

Perhaps it just ain't worth it yet?

Nana Mizuaki (singer who made ULTIMATE DIAMOND) was one of the first artists to release a Concert DVD in BLU-RAY if I recall.

It's not a waste. Ayumi, especially at her concerts, would look AWESOME in high definition. Especially if you have a really good television. I get it that many watch on the computer, but in my opinion the people like me who are actually paying full price for her DVD's etc, are the ones who would pay a little extra to see Ayumi in the highest quality available.
