Ayu's Name

This is so random...but have you guys ever noticed that like, Ayu's name is really pretty written?

Like in my itunes, when I see it next to other Japanese names, it's all curvy and interesting looking.

I think it's really pretty to look at. To me, the characters for her last name look really unique...but that may just be because I don't really know a lot about kanji...

what do you guys think?

Well I think that's because she doesn't use her given name's kanji, so her name stands out in my iTunes too.

I always liked it because it stood out. Koda Kumi's looks so generic to me, and Namie's is just so...long. I like that Ayu's has the simplicity with it.

yeah i think so too..
the hiragana for "ayumi" is very cute and the kanji for "hamasaki" wasnt as difficult as the one in namie's name..

Kanji vs Hiragana

I think ayumi looks pretty because it's in Hiragana. I thought that most Japanese ppl write their personal (first in the US) names in Kanji or Katagana (names derived from non japanese origins) when they're older, but ayu still writes in Hiragana lol. I guess she's a child for life. But the kanji for Ayumi is 歩, or step.

Maybe that's it. Because the letters are so much more curved than in other people's names. It's really pretty.

Like I think it would look so cool on like, some giant banner with really interesting ink.

@pomegranate: Namie's name is crazy. The characters are so full and there's like 5 of them. I could never fail to recognise her name lol

Well, Ayu's name is 歩 really but I thought she wrote ayumi in hiragana as her artist name just to stand out...? Or am I totally wrong? I just thought I heard it somewhere...

AHS married to Maro
~13/1-2010~

Spoiler:
We had such a nice time. We started dating in t2m PV, took it slow you know, let our love grow. Then it got really serious in 2008. Then after AT2009 we moved in together. It was lovely. Then on AT2010 he asked me to marry him. He was such a sweet. And Ayu gave us our blessings. She was also such a sweet. Now me and Maro are such a sweets together. Aaaw, how time flies.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but actually most Japanese's personal names are in Kanji, but there are also many females who have their first name in hiragana.

Most of the time when someone has their name written in katakana it is when it's a foreign name (like 土屋アンナ Tsuchiya Anna, 木村カエラ Kimura Kaela, and 青山テルマ Aoyama Thelma), or when they simply opt to use katakana aesthetically as their artistic name if they're in the media.

But it is true that hiragana is viewed in a way "childish" or cute. In Ayu's case, I think they went for the hiragana because it's "cuter".

it's cool looking, but I could never write it. too bubbly looking, the symbols for a-yu-mi. look too similar to me. and the yu looks like a fish.

^ Actually Ayumi can be written as "歩" in kanji too.

Yeah, I really love her name. One of the very few J-Artistes names that I actually know how to write. XD
