I think the wide open eyes are designed to show her innocence and cuteness. glitter is about believing in love, wanting to remain young and cutesy stuff. So obviously they have to display a less serious approach. She is probably experiencing love for the first time and so she is innocent to the concept of love. I think she expressed it pretty well - how unsure she was on how to act around someone who is supposed to be a bodyguard and how she feels around him - probably confused and yet yearning at the same time. glitter was the start of a love story while HYD was love triangles and dilemmas so a comparison can't exactly be done.

Actually the fans part - you can notice how in the clip from avex, she is waving happily to those fans at the start because it was her "work time". I think she ran away from fans because she felt it was her "free time" and needed time for herself. No one likes being with fans 24/7: everyone needs a break.

JUST saw the pv today (stupid torrent messed it up the first time, had to redld it)
it's...weird. it doesn't fit the song at all. it looks kinda like voyage though, with all the random clips. i do like some scenes, like the pv in the pv and the random light falling..though i think that the light falling on ayu herself would be better, instead of just the glass (why did they use glass for the 'other pv' again? >P) i find it funny when ayu uses a translator instead of actually telling shawn...(whatever she was trying to say, since all i read was 'you' and 'i' XP) and then, he just takes it and doesn't read it..... ... i hope the movie'll be a LOOOOOOOT better than what we just saw i'm kinda disappointed... i heard there was gonna be 2 versions...if the other version is not a movie version, will the crazy-ayu-dancy 'pv' be the 'other version'? (i hope not, that'd be too crazy) |

The "two versions" are from the same movie.
The one we haven't seen is longer supposedly with more footage.. :|~

it looks kinda weird though. she's dancing around with GLASS (why not use shiny plastic? that way, she won't need shawn to constantly protect her 24/7) all over the place, and her dance is like 'LOOK AT ME, I'M DRUNK!!!'
what's next, the re-enactment of the 'bra showing'?? |

Because that's the plot of the music video? And we all know that Ayu is no professional dancer. If you want good dancing watch someone like BoA or Namie.

Okay, I see your point. However, Mao was never extroverted when she was with Hanazawa Rui (Oguri Shun's character)---before she even considered a relationship with Domyouji and she was falling for Rui, she behaved much like Ayu. Scared, shy and innocent. However, even in those cases, Mao's wide-eyed looks don't look quite as unnatural as Ayu's does. Mao, when around Rui, is JUST LIKE Ayu in this glitter video--hopeful of a new love and optimistic for an "escape" from an otherwise rough world she feels she has to run away from. Shawn Yue rescues Ayu from the paps; Rui rescues Mao from Eitoku. And love for the first time? Dead on. Makino later says that Hanazawa Rui was her first love. She was totally confused and yet he was a learning experience for her too. A comparison is only faulty if you look at the entire Domyouji/Makino/Rui relationship. If you zoom in on an individual couple, that is, Rui/Makino, it really makes perfect sense. First love, innocent confusion...it fits. However, it's just in my opinion that Ayu didn't pull it off very convincingly. At least, not to me. I mean, there's a reason her B-movies didn't get off the ground, right? ![]() There's just my two cents. ^_^ I respect your opinion though; that's just how I feel~

Um.. thought you were talking about Mao and Jun in the previous post, that's why I mentioned it's faulty in my post.
And really they're not so unnaturally huge, I've seen much much larger. I'm sure several actresses would love having large eyes to use them at their advantage. Mao's eyes become quite similarly huge when she's staring at Rui, though at most times she is most focused on looking away. I think the problem was that they just zoomed in her eyes only and left little space for people to note her other facial expressions. B-Movies rarely get off the ground and Ayu spent only like three years years on them. You can't expect to become a successful actress in a timespan of three years - most artists spend an entire career to become popular. I still think she's a pretty good actress considering the little experience she has. But anyhow it's just my opinion here and I know I'm probably not going to change yours and I respect it.

Decent PV. I still hate that hairstyle, but she looks pretty enough in some shots. I think I'll wait until I've seen fated and the rest of the story before saying anything definite about her acting.

When I first saw the part of her dancing in that long dress under the glass I thought that it was another PV. Silly me didn't realize that it's just a short part of the video.
![]() I know some people get it and have already explained it (but people like me are just too lazy to read all thirteen pages); but I'm still reading posts where people don't understand the end. Is it really that difficult? She really loves him (Shawn Yue's character), but when her bodyguards show up she drops his hand as if he's a crazy fan or something to show that there's nothing between them. Deleted comment because Chibi_Venus is just way too nice to insult people at AHS. I have to agree with Cyria with the fact that it's necessary to wait for fated until we can give a full critique on her acting. But from what I've seen in glitter, Ayu's just a pretty face (that's trying to act). I believe her acting was good in her early years because that was one of the only things she had done (besides modeling, of course). Now that she's been singing for almost ten years, I feel that her acting has sort of faded away. She was alright in Tsuki ni Shimizu/Voyage, but in glitter she just looked like, as I said before, a pretty face.
