hmm btw, she goes to my college and went to my friends High school (american high school in japan--that's the name of the school...hahaha) But i only see her occasionally walking down the street, we just cross paths. haha

oh, and i 100% prefer the "new" may j. haha. her other music was just kinda tacky in my opinion. all my girls all right all right, girls all right all right, where my....etc. :-\ i think it has more substance now. and she'll continue to grow, i suspect Plus, there's a chance that her album could linger on the charts for a bit (and a chance for it to drop really fast..but i prefer the former.)

@ tokyojapanfan : cool, you're so lucky! ^^

And I'm surprised at the chart ranking. Looks like she's doing good on avex's sub-label.

avex have something really special going on. Now, if only Sowelu switched to their label, now that her contract with sony has ended.

damn that's awesome you've seen her before

i do agree her older stuff was kinda tacky before, well the lyrics for sure, even I can write that stuff lol. But I wish she would do some good upbeat stuff, but that cheesy lyrics like before.

glad she's doing well though, Japan really seems to like music like this

Not all of her older music was tacky. This new direction she's taking is alright but I miss her dancing which it seems we won't be seeing that much.

Garden performance on Melodix!

OMG, today, I found out that avex signed up sowelu on their label. o_O!!

Kinda scared me, because I wanted her to go on that label, and now she is! @_@

I had never listen to May J. before but I say how she was doing on the charts so I decided to download her album and I have to say I love mostly all the songs on it. Moshi Kimi to..., Tabidatsu Kimi ni, and Cresent Moon -DASHI DANCE remix- are the songs I love the most.

May J. did better than Yuna Ito?

I find that surprising, because I thought Yuna was more popular, well-known, and her songs appealed to more people than May J?
Not to mention also that Yuna's fanbase is probably bigger. Hmm...

May J. probably did better than Yuna because of Garden, I read somewhere that the song is popular in Japan. Yuna didn't have any popular songs from her album and two of the three singles she released for the album flopped so...

**1 *79,727 the HIATUS
**2 *64,570 平井堅
**3 *32,228 Green Day
**4 *26,662 May J.
**5 *23,645 Eminem
**6 *19,633 YOKO KANNO SEATBELTS
**7 *19,528 伊藤由奈
**8 *18,583 DJ KAORI
**9 *17,814 Linkin Park
*10 *11,440 MEG

yuna ito is more well known, but that doesn't mean she's well liked or purchased. her singles sold awful, except for the one being promoted through anime. yuna's popularity is pretty low now.

Most people didn't know May J. when she released her older music, so she's "new" to them. And her music is obviously appealing. ANd i wouldn't say people are only buying the album for garden, otherwise they could buy the online single for much cheaper. you're able to listen to entires albums in stores, so people probably like what they hear. I mean obviously some people are going to buy the album for garden, or at least pick up the album and look at it for garden.

But yeah, i'm really happy to see her album get #4! that's really great!!
