How do you all pace yourselves?

I think I've recently done a terrible job at pacing myself. You know the saying where they say your eyes are bigger than your stomach? Well, I've reached a point where my eyes are bigger than my wallet, lol. Fortunately, most of my purchases have been funded from the websites that I make money from but at this time, that money has run low and I seriously need to slow down with my buying. I've been in turbo mode. After I pay for my eBay auctions, I'm going to give my wallet a rest until I make more money from my websites. I also have stuff that I need to sell that I've been too lazy to list until now. My name is Brittnee and I have an Ayumi Hamasaki shopping addiction, lol.

since it is not so hard to find ayu's stuff(including some of her limited edition or first press stuff),just buy it one by one slowly.i am now abit regret for completing my ayu album collection in 6 months time.now i can find some of the cds in cheaper price too
her stuffs isn't as limited edition as we thought.

but like what you said before , if you really & plan to complete your ayumi collection , do it 1 by 1 slowly . Priortise & see what item(s) you really die die want to have them now

I've been going back and forth with the whole MOON/Blossom thing. One minute I want it, the next minute I'm telling myself to just wait for the album. I think it's going to come down to what she does with these upcoming singles. If she does something special with it like Mirrorcle World and Days/Green, I'm going to buy it. But if she doesn't I'm just going to wait for the album. But you're right, I definetely need to prioritize and stick to what I say my limit should be because apparently I don't know what I'm doing, lol. But Karen, I don't think you're a weird Ayumi fan. I just think that if any artist breaks your bank, it will be Breakerz, lol.

Wow... this thread has been very helpful, lol. I still a little... puzzled about what sort of pattern to get into to that'll work for me. I've only just got my first paycheck last week, already my bank account is screaming at me... and I haven't bought a single thing off of my "must have" list. O_O

I can't believe I'm REALLY this bad with money, lol. My mom would strangle me if she knew how much I had left in such a short period of time. I can only afford like one thing right now (and have to forego eating, lol) so I have to make it something good that'll pacify me until check number 2 rolls around.

I think I really like the idea of buying newer releases and limited editions first and working my way back. Since finding FP LE of older albums will be near impossible and expensive anyway... so yeah, that sounds good. lol

I've already ordered M/b and have RnRC so I guess it's all backwards from there. XD

Since Japanese records are already horribly overpriced, I'm only getting her albums. Maybe if the singles were 500 or 800 yen, but even then I'd have shipping. It's not like she ever has B-sides that don't appear on the album and I don't care much for remixes of previous songs : P.

Man, I sell more than I buy these days XD

Basically, I pay for all my have-to-do's (bills, rent, food, etc), then make sure I put some aside in my savings, and THEN, if I have anything left, I'll buy ayu stuff. Which is like once a year MAYBE.

As for what I get, I just get the stuff I like. I have a list of cds and concert merchandise that I prioritize over ayu's other stuff, and that's what I get. It takes awhile to save up for the stuff I want though. I just now got the 2CD+DVD version of "NEXT LEVEL," for example, as well as some AT2009 concert merchandise. (I still haven't gotten GUILTY or A COMPLETE yet either, and I need new copies of some of her albums that I've sold over the last two years or so.)

Despite my brokeness I still have this foolish dream that one day I'll have the biggest collection of Ayu merchandise on the western hemisphere. Never gonna happen, but hey.

The only brand new Ayu CD I bought was Days/GREEN [CD+DVD]FP. The rest are pre-owned (saves a lot on my wallet). I would like to complete ayu's discography but for now I would like to buy her albums first.

yeah only my kids BREAKERZ have the power to make me go broke xD since they're like the only artiste I have been following them since their single debut some 2 years back & I basically have their whole discography that I started to buy since they released their 1st single .

frankly if MOON / blossom has something special like the CD + DVD's being packaged in the same manner as Mirrorcle World & Days / GREEN , then I will not mind considering to get it in which they're the only 2 ayumi singles that I have .

But to slap a 'limited edition' label on the CD + DVD just for the sake of doing so , eh it's not enough of an incentive for me to get it

Also , I have no desire to get/complete all 40 + singles that ayumi released in the past 12 years , that will be just D: D: D: for me to handle @_@

I came/listen to her music from Secret onwards some 4 years back & all this while , I'm just happy/contented to get her studio , best/compilation albums which's enough to me .

I only have 1 concert good of her to begin with which's the Asian Tour 2008 keychain , 1 Secret poster & 2 GUILTY postcards & some other non important stuff from her but I'm not like OH I MUST HAVE EVERYTHING OF HER

I usually buy singles when she releases it or I'll buy it after 1 or 2 months after the release. And I'll only buy singles and albums that I really like.

I only buy the JP version on singles, but on albums, its a different case.
Like at this moment, I will buy the OS press of R'n'R since the JP version of it was darn expensive.

The only merchandise that I have right now is the ARENA TOUR 2009 -NEXT LEVEL- bag.
The reason I bought it is that I need a storage for my art supplies and more space for my CD collection.

I don't get much attention on her Ayupans, calendars, and other stuffs.

Wow, so you've been with them since the beginning. No wonder they have that power. And with a name like BREAKERZ, I'm sure they get mighty close to breaking that bank sometimes, lol. I always thought that you were good when it came to having the resistance to buying a lot of Ayu merchandise. But that's because all that money you're saving goes to BREAKERZ, lol. I'm like that with Anna Tsuchiya but she doesn't have a lot of merchandise so that makes my wallet smile like this: . But with these singles she's releasing in the following months as well as an album, my wallet is definetely going to do this (even though it's been doing it for awhile): .

As much as I love Ayumi, I'm kind of hoping that she doesn't have special casings for her upcoming singles for my wallet's sake. Because I know I'll be buying them. I highly doubt she won't be doing anything special with them though so we'll see how that goes, lol. I feel like I need to tell someone in my house to hide my wallet for me, lol.

Even though Ayumi has been hitting my wallet good, I refuse to buy all of her singles. That's where I draw the line and I plan to stay behind it. I hope my wallet is at least proud of me for that. I'm only interested in the CD+DVD versions of her albums even though I did end up with CD+DVD versions of Mirrorcle World and Days/Green (I was trying to get the CD only of Days/Green but I found it cheaper than the prices I saw for just the CD).

They released 2 albums & a mini album before starting to release singles from July 2008 onwards & I came in around that time when SUMMER PARTY / LAST EMOTION was released

I pretty much was the 1st person to have 'found' them on here & let alone (over)promote them like nuts xD . It's something that I haven't & will not stop as they really deserves it

More people have started taking notice of them as compared to last time where it was so depressing but luckily things have changed , no thanks to DAIGO the hot frontman 8D who initally people thought that he's a Johnny's but HE IS NOT 8D

since avex is doing a special 48th - 50th single project & at their end , you never know what kinda tricks avex has up their sleeves

avex's a bit difficult to predict since they're probably 1 of if not the biggest independent record label in the world & with all the $ & resources they have , I can't imagine/predict how their next marketing move on ayumi will be like

BREAKERZ should hire you to be a promoter for them because you do a very good job, lol. I'm sure you've made fans out of many people here. I know because I've certainly taken notice to your avatars and signatures. And having DAIGO especially definetely helps, lol.

I agree with you about Avex. Who knows what they have up their sleeves. I guess we'll never know until we see what they come out with. It's exciting but I get impatient sometimes, lol.

I am one of those people who wants to own her entire discography, and I've been collecting since about 2005 so I've had time to steadily build a collection. About half of my collection is from gifts (birthdays + christmas + graduations) and the other half is my own money. I have all her albums including compilations. I have almost all her singles except for Moments and a couple of the re-releases. I've started collecting her remix albums and have about half, maybe a little more. I own about half her concerts, both old and new.

I have a slight advantage in tthat I've lived in Japan twice now and both times had the great opportunity to hit the used shops and buy most of this stuff very, very cheap. Three of her concert DVDs I bought in great condition for only 1000 yen each. I've bought many albums and singles for only 250 yen each. Getting them home was a pain in the ass but totally worth it as my main collecting hobby is CDs and other music memorabilia.

So right now I kinda collect as she releases, and I'll usually buy an older item with the new preorder so I can get free shipping =P (it's gonna cost me the same anyway, so might as well get more items!) Right now money is really tight though so I'm going to wait a little bit, and if the MOON/blossom preorder gifts/covers aren't my thing I'll wait for the next single after and might get them all together later. (maybe even for my birthday since it's in the fall)

For collecting her older stuff, if you're interested in the singles at all I would suggest at least the rare stuff if you can find it cheap enough for even as an investment. appears, Fly high, kanariya, AUDIENCE, SURREAL, and Daybreak were all limited releases and can be hard to find now.
