I've gotten so bored with many artists nowadays... I listen to Hamasaki-san because everytime I hear her sing, I know she sings from the heart... there's a connection that you feel from listening to her because you know that she's reflecting on experiences that we have all gone through &each person can interpret what she is saying a different way. It's not just words connected, it's thoughts &feelings &her use of emotion in her songs that makes me listen.

Because of her lyrics, I think. One day "A Song for xx" was played on radio (5 years ago), and I heard it, my immediate thought was "oh, the lyric is so sad..." Then I went to a nearby store and picked it up. "For My Dear..." "Trust" "POWDER SNOW" all touched me...

Ayu's music is so different from anything else I've heard. Her powerful lyrics are just suiting for her powerful voice. I dunno. It's like Ayu has a song for any emotion I feel.

The first song I heard from Ayu was "Dearest," about two years ago. I found the song on accident and downloaded it on a whim. When it was finished and I opened the file, I was totally blown away. As some of you already know, music is extremely important to me, and every song I take the time to listen to, I'll throw myself into it full-force, exploring every facet of the music. Needless to say, I found myself lost within Dearest for hours. So deeply did it touch me, that upon hearing the chorus, I broke down into tears for the first time in memory. I heard all of the love, hope, and even hurt without ever knowing a single word she sang. Language didn't matter, the song spoke for itself in a language in which all people are fluent. I knew there was something special about this person, there had to be, for her to do what she did. It's like she says in ANGEL'S SONG, "Sometimes you are too unprotected and come face to face to me with all your might." Ayu throws away all the barriers and walls and faces everyone and everything in every single song, even when she sings about turning her back to responsibility.

Of course, that was only the beginning. I went on to download everything I could find, wanting to see if this was all for real or not, if this was some kind of fluke. But it wasn't. With each song, each video, I saw more and more of this amazing thing that I had never seen in an artist before. I sought out sites regarding Ayu and read all that they contained - the good, and the bad. Before a week had passed I had her profile memorized and knew the original lyrics and translations of all the songs I had heard.

I wasn't only memorizing what I read about her though. I was also taking in the thought processes that allowed her to open up that way. I've learned so much from Ayu, from her songs, that I actually feel endebted to her. And I still have more to learn, so I continue to listen, and continue to buy her merchandise.

Definately the music.

This is how i found out about Ayumi. My friend showed me a song by ferry cosrten, i think it was "punk". At that time i hadno Japanese musical influence and didnt know Japanese from Korean. Then somehow i found the "a song for XX (ferry corsten chill mix)" and i fell in love with that song. it was kinda idle for awhile until i actually started looking up songs for ayumi. only until 3 months after that did i realise her image and impact to the Japanese music industry. Now i listen to all her songs and worship her ^_^. haha~~

Hmmm- her songs are unique, the lyrics are nice, the music is nice, her voice is nice... well basically everything about them.

And not to mention how a large numbers of her songs are easily relatable to myself... I cried from listening to Teddy Bear LOL...

I like her voice..like people have said before it's not exactly anything special but it sounds lovely. Ballads like Dearest, and Moments really relax me and a few times have helped me sleep. Lol. And then songs like Angels Song, Grateful Days, Evolution get me up, dancing...maybe its her variation of styles how she doesn't ONLY sing Ballads, but how she has her msic evened out with up beat dancy tunes and rock type songs. I could probably say the same thing for all the other JPop artists I like. ^__^;
