Isn't it just... too soon to say anything about Gaga?

people will always care about MADONNA, she's at the same level of Michael Jackson, Beatles, Elvis... ignore that is a huge mistake. You can like her or not, but she's A LEGEND.

I think Michael Jackson will be one of the few artists to stand the test of time. The Beatles are already not that popular anymore (especially among young people).. and I think artists like Madonna and Lady Gaga will be famous after 50 years, but not a 100 years..

No artist will truly stand the test of time in 100 years. We don't listen to artists from 100 years ago. I can't name any artists that were really popular in 1911.

True, but 100 years ago there was no such thing as pop music.. I wonder if there will still be pop music 100 years from now!

I doubt it. 1911 we had Victrola/orchestra/ singing (around the time not everything was mozart instrumental orchestra stuff) music. 100 years later in 2011 we have upbeat/pop/synthesizer/dance music. 1811 we had Classical beethoven/mozart music. Every 100 years, artists and music change drastically (just like every 10 years, fashion changes drastically)
I'm sure in 100 years they'll know who madonna is, and lady gaga, and michael jackson, and blah blah blah, but no one is going to listen to them. I don't have my ipod filled up with tons of this type of music which is from 100 years ago (1911). So I highly doubt in 100 years, anyone is going to have our music floating around. ^Nice to know that ur ipod is the parameter to see what people listen or don't listen
![]() Of course most pieces that will be remembered in 100 years will only be listened to musicians who are interested in studing music and so... But still, some pieces older than 100 years still are pretty recognizible even these days... Bethoven lived from 1770 to 1827 and I doubt there is anyone one in the world with TV, radio or internet that never listened to some stuff he did... |

Yeah...maybe not -young people-, but plenty of people listen to old music.
It'll just be certain types of people, either enthusiasts, or like andrenekoi said, musicians.

We're going to be alive when Beatles' albums turn 100 and they certainly are by no means lacking in popularity even now when some of their albums are approaching 50 years old. Just using them as an example...
I still think it's too early to include Gaga in the list. I don't think she's quite proven herself for the long run.
